    Abstract: The apparatus makes it possible for surf- or sail- boards to be stored under the ceiling (11) of a garage for cars in a simple and dependable manner, by persons who are not very strong. To this end a hoist is disclosed which is composed of a supporting frame (1) adapted to be fitted just under the ceiling (11) and on which two shafts (6, 7) or the like are mounted approximately parallel to one another and spaced apart by at least the width of a board. A lockable drive (17) and two spaced pairs of carrying ropes (20) are secured to the one shaft (6), one rope (22) in each case being guided over the other shaft (7). The two rope ends of each pair are adapted to be connected to one another directly or via a carrying strap to form a sling. Each pair of carrying ropes (20) can be passed around the board on the roof rack of a passenger car driven under the apparatus. The board can then be raised by the drive (17) and safely stored in its raised position. Various embodiments of the drive (17) are described.

    Abstract: The book comprises sound record means each in the form of a spiral sound groove 2 and associated with individual printed book pages 1 and adjuster elements 4, as well as switch-on elements 4', so that sound reproducing apparatus is properly aligned. The sound record means are provided either on sound record sheetings glued individually into the book or on sound record double pages 1 of plastic material, which sheeting or sound record double pages 1 comprise narrow zones 13 extending parallel to the back of the book to give the sound record pages increased flexibility to aid page turning or bending. The zones 13 may also be formed by cloth binding, columns of circular, lenticular, oval punch-outs or slit-like cut-outs (Figs. 3,4,5 and 8, not shown).

    Abstract: A sound-illustrated, bound book includes sound record areas in the form of a spiral sound groove each associated with individual pages. Adjustment perforations or embossments or engravements and switch-on safety elements, if provided, for a sound reproducing apparatus attachable in aligned position, are associated with each sound groove. It is suggested to provide the sound grooves with the adjustment perforations and the switch-on safety elements on separate double pages of plastic material, at best being semi-rigid, and bound in the book, inserted into the quaternia thereof, in order to permit more favorable production of the individual book pages and of the sound groove carriers and to prevent any obstruction when the book is read with a sound reproducing apparatus having a revolving pickup placed on the sound groove and to avoid too much bulging of the book, especially toward one side. The sound grooves may be provided at the front and back sides of the sound record pages so as to be disposed directly opposite each other. The adjustment perforations or engravements and embossments as well as the switch-on safety elements may be arranged symmetrically with respect to two orthogonal central axes of the sound grooves such that they will be in common for the oppositely disposed sound grooves. The switch-on safety elements are embodied by an upwardly protruding embossment and a downwardly protruding engravement located close to the embossment.

    Abstract: A rectangular frame for a raised garden bed has front and rear longitudinal sidewalls (2) one of which is higher than the other, interconnected releasably by transverse sidewalls which taper accordingly. On the outside, each of these sidewalls includes a U-shaped profile section (6) whose open ends face each other. Spaced apertures are formed in the approximately horizontally protruding webs of the U-shaped profile sections, at least along the longitudinal sidewalls (2, 3). The apertures serve to receive rod-like supports (10) on which a roof-like cover may be disposed. A plate or foil of plastics (26) and permeable to thermal radiation is arranged releasably at the outside of the sidewalls and spaced from the same. A tight-mesh wire screen is hooked over tongues formed by embossment in the sidewalls near the lower edge thereof. The frame provides a raised garden bed with equal conditions of growth for all plants. The frame is easily positioned, and maintained, and may act as a solar collector.
