    Abstract: An insect trap using attractant light, comprising a source of light and a housing can be mounted on a vertical surface or placed near a ceiling surface. The housing and the source of light cooperate to form an upwardly facing opening for the facilitated entry of flying insect pests and for the reflection of light onto the vertical surface. Insects that enter the trap are immobilized on a surface within the trap. Cooperation between direct radiant light, reflected light and an upwardly facing entrance for insects substantially increase capture rates.

    Abstract: A process for preparing an insecticidal composition comprises: a) dissolving a water sensitive insecticide in a specified amount of water; b) combining the resultant insecticide solution with a bait base comprising a mixture of feeding stimulants and optionally one or more gelling agents; c) agitating the resulting combination until thoroughly mixed and if desired d) allowing the mixed combination to form a gel or paste. The water sensitive insecticide is can be either acephate or methamidophos. An insecticidal composition comprises: an effective amount of water sensitive insecticide comprising at least one of acephate or methamidophos; an effective amount of water to dissolve at least a part of the water sensitive insecticide with at least a portion of the water sensitive insecticide is dissolved in the water; an effective amount of at least one of borax or boric acid to lengthen the insecticidal activity of the composition and bait base comprising at least one of an attractant and a feeding stimulant.

    Abstract: A rodent bait station includes an enclosure having an inclined passageway leading from an opening in the enclosure to an elevated bait receptacle having a removable tray with a handle. The inclined passageway terminates at the lowest elevation of the opening to prevent water from becoming tripped in the enclosure. A separate internal receptacle is provided in the enclosure for storing and protecting printed materials, e.g., maintenance records. A replaceable latch on the enclosure includes in alignment member disposed between a pair of engagement members which engage cooperative slots and which are deformable to unengaged positions by a key that wedges between the engagement members and the alignment member.

    Abstract: An insect trap (400) using attractant light, comprising a source of insect attractant light and a housing (404) that can be mounted on a generally planar or flat mounting surface. The housing (404) and the source of light cooperate to form a bidirectional or a multidirectional (overlapping or non-overlapping) pattern of insect attractant light. The housing comprises one, two or more openings for the insect attractant light (401) that is reflected and radiated onto the flat mounting surface. The housing and the source of insect attractant light can cooperate to form a light pattern directed in a continuous display pattern that can surround the housing. The housing openings further facilitate the entry of flying insect pests into the trap. As the insects enter the trap, they are immobilized on an insect immobilization surface mounted within the trap. Cooperation between the direct radiant light, reflected light and the position of the housing and insect immobilization surface forms at least two (preferably non-overlapping) light displays that can substantially increase capture rates when compared to prior traps. The trap can also display a light pattern substantially surrounding the trap housing.
