    Abstract: In a spectacle frame each lens surround is formed by a relatively rigid rail and a flexible retaining member attached at each end to the rail. To effect this attachment the ends of each rail are formed with two transverse holes through which the flexible retaining member is passed twice. Each nose pad of the spectacle frame is also formed with two transverse holes through which the flexible retaining member may be passed twice. The holes in each nose pad correspond to those in the nose end of the associated rail, so that the nose pad may be attached to the rail by means of the flexible retaining member holding a lens in position in the surround.

    Abstract: The nose bridge assembly (10) comprises a bridge (11) to connect two lenses (12), whilst two temple members (13) each have a hinge connector (14) for a temple arm (15) hinged thereto. The assembly (10) comprises two rigid grooved lens mounting elements (25) which each hold the inner part (16) of one lens perimeter whilst each member (13) has a similar rigid element (26) to hold an outer part of a lens perimeter. The upper and lower ends of the respective elements (25,26) are connected via separate tensioned filaments (20,21) which engage (in 17,18) a groove in each lens perimeter and, together with the elements (25,26), form the lens mountings.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a spectacle frame of the kind comprising a main structure (10) and, for each lens (11) to be mounted, a surround which is formed, on the one hand, from an upper rim (12), and, on the other hand, from a flexible rim cord (13). According to the invention, for at least one of the ends of the said flexible rim cord, four holes are provided in combination, two holes (14) being formed in the main structure (10), and two holes (26) being formed in correspondence in the upper rim (12), so that the said rim cord (13) fastens this upper rim (12) to the main structure (10).
