Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source unit capable of cooling a light-transmitting plate from the inside of a reflector while simplifying its explosion-proof construction. SOLUTION: In this light source unit U1, an opening in a reflector R is covered with a light-transmitting plate 20 by fixing the light-transmitting plate 20 to an part of the opening, and thus a structure suitable for explosion protection is obtained. The reflector R is provided with an air inflow part 24A for introducing air into the interior and an air discharge part 24B for discharging the air introduced from the air inflow part 24A into the exterior, and the reflector R and the light-transmitting plate 20 are cooled by the cooperation of the air inflow part 24A with the air discharge part 24B. When the reflector R made of glass and the light-transmitting plate 20 made of glass are appropriately cooled by such a structure, the strength of the reflector R and of the light- transmitting plate 20 is ensured. Even if a luminous tube 1 should rupture, the explosionproof construction can be properly maintained.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an image forming device excellent in durability and safety, without adversely affecting the environment in use. CONSTITUTION: In the image forming device constituted in such a manner that a photosensitive layer 14 is provided on the outside surface of a freely rotatable closed loop-like substrate drum 13 and an electrifying means 11, an exposure unit 2, a developing unit 3, a transfer unit 4, a fixing unit 5 and a cleaning means 12 are provided around the substrate drum 13, it is composed of lightweight elements and the electrifying means 11 is composed of an electrifying X-ray generator means which is provided in the drum 13 and passes X-rays through the drum 13 and the photosensitive layer 14, to irradiate them, so that the air on the surface of the layer 14 is ionized and an electric field applying means for leading a gas ion generated by the ionization to the surface of the layer 14 by an electric field. Further, the cleaning means 12 is composed of an erasing X-ray generator means which ionizes the air on the photosensitive layer on which coloring fine grains remain with the irradiation with the X-rays transmitting the drum 13 and the layer 14, from the inside of the drum 13 and generates carriers in the layer 14.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high current density at a substantially low working temp. and to decrease the consumption of an electrode by fixing the top end of the electrode formed by impregnating an easily electron radiating material to a porous high melting point metallic base body to one end of a metallic bar forming a conductive path thereby forming the electrode bar. CONSTITUTION:A hole is provided to the circular columnar base part of the top end 1 of the electrode of which the circular conical part is successively connected to the circular columnar part one end of the metallic bar forming the conductive path is fitted into the hole part and is fixed by high melting point brazing. The porous high melting point metallic base body at the top end 1 of the electrode is formed by molding tungsten powder with a pressed and calcining the molding in a vacuum or hydrogen atmosphere. An alkaline earth oxide and metallic oxide are impregnated as the electron radiating material to such porous tungsten base body, by which the top end 1 of the electrode is formed.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source unit having a simplified structure wherein a lens member susceptible to heat is directly cooled. SOLUTION: A light source unit U1 contains a lens member 20 installed in front of a reflector R for refracting arc light in a desired direction so as to form it into a desired light flux. The generation of the arc produces a high heat which tends to be stored in the lens member 20 serving as a light transmitting member rather than be stored in the reflector R having reflection surface. The heat causes expansion/contraction repetition of the lens member 20, resulting in impairing original functions of a lens as well as developing a crack therein. This result is caused by a lens of variations in thickness unlike a flat plate. Accordingly, a cooling member 22 made of metal (for example, aluminum with a good cooling efficiency, etc.), is attached on a peripheral side 20A of the lens member 20 for concentratedly cooling thereof.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an image forming device which does not exert any adverse influence on surrounding environments when it is used and which is excellent in durability in use and safety. CONSTITUTION: This image forming device is constituted by forming a photoreceptive layer on the outer surface of an endless base plate drum 13 which is freely rotated, and providing an electrifying means 11, an exposure part 20, a developing part 3, a transfer part 4, a fixing part 5 and a cleaning means 12 around the drum 13. The electrifying means 11 is provided with an X-ray generating means for electrification which electrolytically dissociates air near the photoreceptive layer by the radiation of X-ray and an electric field impressing means conducting gas ion generated by the electrolythic dissociation to the surface of the photoreceptive layer by electric field, and the cleaning means 12 is provided with an X-ray generating means for erasion which ionizes the air near the photoreceptive layer where coloring particulates remain by the radiation of the X-ray and generates carrier in the photoreceptive layer.
