Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the service life of a hot-cathode discharge tube by forming the electrode thereof with an electron emission section and a heating section separated from each other. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 2 are laid at both ends of a glass tube 1, thereby forming an opposed electrode discharge tube. In the case of AC lighting, the electrodes 2 alternately act as an anode and a cathode. Also, the electrodes 2 are indirectly-heated type with a heating section 3 and electron emission section 4 separated from each other. The heating section 3 comprises a coil of a wire material such as tungsten, and the external surface thereof is coated with an oxide insulation material containing alumina or the like. When a starter 11 is turned on, a heater 3 is actuated and carbonate on the external surface of a cylinder body is thermally decomposed. Also, the electron emission section 4 is formed with the oxide in the electrodes 2, thereby generating the state where thermion can be emitted. When the starter 11 is turned off during said process, high voltage is generated by a choke coil 13 and applied between the electrodes 2, thereby starting discharge. As a result, an ultraviolet ray is generated to excite and make luminous a fluorescent body 10 in the tube 1. According to this construction, the service life of the discharge tube equivalent to a cold-cathode type can be obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the peeling of a reflecting film during use in high-temp. environment by forming a base material of a material having high heat resistance and forming the reflecting mirror in such a manner that the good adhesive property between under coating films and the base material is maintained. CONSTITUTION:The 1st under coating film 21, the 2nd under coating film 22 and the reflecting film 3 are successively depoited on the surface of the base material 1. For example, an aluminum plate is used as the base material 1. A metallic material which has the good adhesive property to the base material 1 and smoothes the ruggedness on the surface of the base material 1, for example, nickel, is used as the 1st under coating film 21. A material having the good adhesive property to the 1st under coating film 21, for example, chromium, is used as the 2nd under coating film 22. A metallic material which has the good adhesive property to the 2nd under coating film 22 and hardly alloys therewith, for example, aluminum, is selected as the reflecting film 3. The use of the reflecting mirror in the high-temp. environment is possible in this way and the peeling of the reflecting film during use is obviated.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow cathode lamp which is enabled to securely generate discharge between a hollow cathode and an anode, with an assembly workability in mind. SOLUTION: The hollow cathode lamp 1 has a cylindrical member 8 erected on a stem 4 inside the bulb for improvement of productivity as well as to a achieve a configuration in which a wraparound of discharge hardly occurs from anything but a hollow cathode 10 against an anode 7. With this configuration, it is achieved to enclose a part where a wraparound of discharge to the anode 7 is easily generated with as simple a structure as erecting the cylindrical member 8 in the bulb. Further, as a result of concentric alignment of the hollow electrode 10 with the cylindrical member 8, discharge in the direction of the tube axis L is secured coupled with an adoption of the above cylindrical member 8 extending to the tube axis direction. Like this, the cylindrical member 8 bringing good effects in restraining abnormal discharge contributes greatly to improvement of assembling workability, and is of some help for a mass production of the lamp 1.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow cathode lamp with an improved assembly process which does not easily allow wraparound of discharge against an anode. SOLUTION: The hollow cathode lamp 1 has a cylindrical member 8 and an anode tube 7 erected on a stem 4, with the former surrounding the latter in a bulb 2, to achieve a configuration in which a wraparound of discharge hardly occurs from anything but a hollow cathode 10 against an anode 7. The anode itself can be utilized as a lead wire as a result of the anode tube 7 penetrating the stem 4. Further, a surface area is enlarged by making the anode 7 itself tubular, and accordingly, a radiation effect increases, input current value is heightened, and light output can be improved with a simple structure. Then, as a result of the anode tube 7 extended toward the tube axis L direction, the cylindrical member 8 and the anode tube 7 can be arrayed concentrically, enabling an assembly of the lamp 1 based on the anode tube 7.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the brightness of a gaseous discharge tube as a spot light source by setting a depth of an aperture conical hole part in an electron convergence part to be almost the same depth as that of a high density electron zone so as to generate the high density electron zone along an optical axis. CONSTITUTION:An electron convergence part 5 comprises an aperture 6 of metal such as molybdenum where a conical hole part 12 and a small diameter hole part 11 communicate with each other. For the hole part 12, an angle thetais set to be 30-120 deg., or preferably 60 deg. and a depth L1 is set to be 2mm or more, or preferably 4mm, which is the same degree as that of a high density electron zone 16. For the hole part 11, a depth L2 is set at about 1mm, and a diameter (d) is set at 0.4-2.0mm, or preferably at 0.6mm. An electron way 9 from a cathode to an anode gets closer to an optical axis 2 at a convergence part 5 for an electron current to get in almost linearly, and light outgoing from the zone 16 toward a side is also reflected at the inner surface of the hole part 12 to be refracted in the direction of the optical axis 2 to reduce loss, thereby the brightness can be improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To carry out positioning accurately in a short period of time, at the time of fixing a point light source lamp through a substrate by individually inserting plural pins for electrode of the point light source lamp, into pin inserting holes provided on the substrate, and whereby adjusting a stage. CONSTITUTION:Pin inserting holes 13a-13n whose diameter is larger enough for that of pins 7a-7n to be loosely fitted thereto, are provided in a concentric manner, on a substrate 11. The pins 7a-7n of a point light source lamp 1, are inserted into the corresponding pin inserting holes 13a-13n of the substrate 11. At the time, the side of a reflecting film 16 is correspondent to the side of the point light source lamp 1. A stage is adjusted while the pins 7a-7n are loosely fitted to the pin inserting holes 13a-13n, and a certain positioning of an electron convergence part 9, is carried out. After precise positioning is carried out, the pins 7a-7n are fixed to soldering fixing parts 17a-17n by a solder 18, and the point light source lamp 1 is thus mounted on the substrate 11.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a temperature rise caused by heat generated in a diode, by parallel connecting two diodes of a rectifying circuit connected so that an electric current flowing from a main power supply part to a lamp flows to a power supply circuit between the main power supply part and the lamp in a direction of easy flow. SOLUTION: A rectifying circuit 49 is intervened between an input terminal 60 and an anode 39, and is connected so that an electric current flowing from a power source 5 to a light emitting part 3 flows in a direction of easy flow. The rectifying circuit 49 consists of four diodes 49a-49d, the diodes 49a and 49b, and the diodes 49c and 49d are connected in series, and a circuit having the diode 49a and 49b and a circuit having the diode 49c and 49d are parallel connected. Thereby, at the time when the current starts flowing, the current flows in one circuit to generate heat, due to a difference in characteristics, and the internal resistance of the diode grows. If the internal resistance gets to the same resistance of other circuit or bigger, the current flows in other circuit, and the amount of the current in the former circuit is suppressed.

Discharge using thermions is performed between the electron supply source 24 and the positive electrode 8.
