Abstract: A liquid crystal display device having a structural arrangement that a plurality of liquid crystal layers each for displaying a pattern are piled up and a pair of polarizers are provided above an uppermost liquid crystal layer and below a lowermost liquid crystal layer, is disclosed in which a polarizer is interposed between adjacent liquid crystal layers in such a manner that adjacent ones of the polarizers are different in direction of transmission axis from each other, in order to eliminate a white on black portion caused by an overlap of the patterns and to thereby reduce the area of a display region; or in which a white on black portion caused by an overlap of the patterns is used as a display portion to form a display pattern having a predetermined shape and to open up new possibilities for color display.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify the watch circuit, by displaying the time analogically with one LCD of the two-layer structure and displaying the time digitally with the other and displaying time dots for analogue display with the LCD for digital display. CONSTITUTION:An LCD4 for analogue display is provided with a pattern 7 for analogue hand display, pattern 8 for date, and a pattern 9 for day of the week. An LCD5 for digital display is provided with a time pattern 10, a pattern 11 for day of the week, a second pattern 12, and a date pattern 13 and is provided furthermore with time dots 14 corresponding to the pattern 7 for analogue hand display. These LCDs 4 and 5 are piled up to display the time analogically or digitally selectively. In the analogue display, time dots 14 are displayed together with the pattern 7 for analogue hand display.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make assembly work easier in an indicating device whose sound emitter is formed by fixing a transparent piezoelectric element to the inner surface of a transparent cover by forming the electrical connection of the piezoelectric element and a module of a resiliently contacting contactor. CONSTITUTION:On the inner surface of a cover glass 22, a transparent conductor layer 24 is coated, and to the center of this surface, the piezoelectric element 27 with transparent electrodes 25 and 26 on both sides in adhered. Between the transparent electrode 26 on the module side of the piezoelectric element 27 and a lead 18, an output conductive rubber 28 consisting of a resilient substance lies in a pressed state. And between the lead 18 and the transparent conductor layer 24, a grounding conductive rubber 29 lies in a pressed state. These conductive rubbers 28 and 29 are disposed outside the indicating region (l) of the cover glass 22 so that they cannot be seen from outside.

From module 17, two contactors 11 and 12 extend and when a prescribed voltage is applied between both contactors 11 and 12, piezoelectric element 16 vibrates to generate a sound.
