    Abstract: Process for the dyeing of textile material of polyacrylonitrile which contains sulfonic acid groups, which comprises using as carriers compounds of the general formula R1 ¦R4 R2 - Ar - SO2 - N ANGLE ¦R5 R3 in which R1, R2 and R3 each represent a hydrogen, chlorine or bromine atom, an alkyl or alkoxy group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a nitro group, Ar represents a benzene or naphthalene ring, R4 represents a hydroxy-alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and R5 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl or hydroxy-alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a cyanoethyl group, an alkenyl group of 2 to 4 carbon atoms, a benzyl or cyclohexyl group. By using these compounds as carriers deep shades with an excellent levelness can be obtained and due to their high boiling point the danger of forming so-called carrier-spots on the goods is diminished.

[Also in Division C5M] The invention comprises compounds of the formula wherein R 1 and R 2 denote hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine, an alkyl C 1-4 or alkoxy C 1-4 residue, with the sum of the carbon atoms of the residues R 1 and R 2 not exceeding the number 7, Ar denotes a benzene, naphthalene, anthracene, diphenyl, diphenyl methane, diphenyl oxide, diphenyl sulphide, diphenyl sulphoxide or diphenyl sulphone residue, R 3 denotes hydrogen, an alkyl C 1-4 residue, the #-cyanoethyl residue, or a hydroxyalkyl residue having 2 to 4 atoms, R 4 denotes an alkylene radical having up to 15 carbon atoms which may be substituted by one or more methyl or ethyl groups, n denotes 1 and if Ar is a benzene, naphthalene or anthracene residue denotes 1 or 2, and their salts. They are prepared by reacting (R 1 )(R 2 )-Ar-SO 2 Cl with n.R 3 NH.R 4 .COOH in the presence of an acid binding agent, and subsequently, if desired reacting the acid with a base to produce a salt. Specified compounds include benzene sulphonyl-, p-toluene sulphonyl, diphenyloxidesulphonyl. and diphenylsulphonyl N-methyl-#- amino caproic acids and their triethanolammonium salts, 4 - chlorobenzenesulphonyl, diphenyloxidesulphonyl, diphenylsulphonesulphonyl - # - amino caproic acids and their triethanolammonium salts, benzene sulphonyl- # - amino undecane acid, benzene sulphonyl N- methyl - 8 - amino valeric acid, naphthalene- (1,5) or (1,6) - di(N - methyl sulphonamide - #- caproic acid) and their triethanolammonium salts, anthracene - (2) - sulphonyl - N - methyl- # - amino - caproic acid, 4 - methoxybenzene sulphonyl - N - methyl - # - amino caproic acid, 2 - bromodiphenyl sulphonamide - # - undecane acid, 2 - fluorodiphenyl sulphonamide - # - caproic acid, diphenyl sulphide - sulphonamide - 8- valeric and - # - caproic acid, diphenyl sulphoxide - sulphonamide - 8 - valeric acid and many others. The salts of the compounds of the invention act as anti-corrosive lubricants in metal - working.
