Abstract: 1326613 Colouring PVC FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 20 Aug 1970 [21 Aug 1969] 40134/70 Heading C3P [Also in Division C4] Polyvinyl chloride is coloured red in the mass by incorporating therein a monoazo pigment of formula wherein X 1 , X 2 and X 3 are a H or halogen atom or an alkyl or alkoxy group, R 1 is an alkyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl group, R 2 is a H atom, an alkyl or alkenyl group, a cycloalkyl, aralkyl or an aryl group which may be substituted by a halogen atom or an alkyl, alkoxy CF 3 , alkanoylamino, benzoylamine, alkanoyl, benzoyl, phenoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, carbamoyl, sulphonamido or alkylsulphonmido group and R 3 is a H atom or an alkyl or alkenyl group and R 2 and R 3 may form a ring with the N atom (see Divisions C4-C5). In Example 1 polyvinyl chloride, a phthalate ester plasticizer, a pigment as above and TiO 2 were mixed on a roller device to give a yellowish red film.

A compound of the general formula X-Y-O-(-A-O-Y-O)m -A-O-Y-X wherein X represents a radical of the general formula [R**1-Gp -(O-CHR**2-CHR**3-)n ]2 N- in which R**1 is a saturated aliphatic radical having 6 to 30 carbon atoms or an unsaturated aliphatic radical having one or several ethylenic bonds and 6 to 30 carbon atoms, G is phenylene or naphthylene, p is zero or 1, R**2 and R**3 are hydrogen or methyl, but are not both methyl, and n is a number from 0 to 25, Y represents a radical of the formula see diagramm : EP0044025,P9,F1 in which R**2 and R**3 have the indicated meanings and q represents identical or different numbers from 0 to about 200, A denotes a radical of the general formula see diagramm : EP0044025,P9,F2 in which R**4 and R**5 are hydrogen or alkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, and m is a number from zero to 5, n and q not both being zero.

Abstract: Stable dispersions of pigments are obtained by finely distributing inorganic and/or organic pigments in water and/or agents preventing or retarding the drying-up of the dispersions containing condensation products of aromatic hydroxy compounds and alkanals as well as surfactants, said condensation products and surfactants containing aliphatic carbon chains of more than 5 carbon atoms. The dispersions are compatible with hydrophilic and hydrophobic media.
