Abstract: A liquid coating composition is based on an acetoacetate group-containing polymer and a polyamine in the form of the corresponding aldimine or ketimine, where the acetoacetate group-containing polymer is obtained by reacting a polyepoxide with water, an amine, a hydroxycarboxylic acid and subsequently esterifying or transesterifying the final product using acetoacetic acid. This liquid coating composition is particularly suitable as a binder in two-component automobile repair fillers or as a two-component primer.

Abstract: Process for preparing copolymers from esters of an unsaturated carboxylic acid with at least one other unsaturated monomer, characterized in that the following components are copolymerized in radical substance polymerization: A) 5 to 60 parts by weight of at least one diester of an .alpha.,.beta.-olefinically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid having 1 to 8 carbon atoms in the ester group, B) 10 to 70 parts by weight of at least one vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon having one vinyl group, C) 0 to 30 parts by weight of at least one glycidyl ester of an aliphatic saturated monocarboxylic acid branched in the .alpha.-position, D) 0 to 51 parts by weight of at least one ester or amide of an .alpha.,.beta.-olefinically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid or an anhydride of at least one .alpha.,.beta.-olefinically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid, E) 0 to 40 parts by weight of at least one .alpha.,.beta.-olefinically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid, the sum of components A) to E) being 100 parts by weight, whilst at least a part of component A) is at first introduced into the reaction vessel alone or in combination with at least a part of component C) and a mixture of component B) with at least one of components D) and E) being present and any remaining parts of components A) and/or C) is added in portions referred to hereinabove at a temperature range of between 140 and 200.degree.C together with a radical initiator, alone. or in conjunction with a regulator, and if component C) is present, at least an equimolar quantity of component E) is used; and the use of the products thus obtained as binders for the preparation of coating compositions.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of copolymers containing hydroxyl groups by radical reaction of A) 10 to 30 % by weight of at least one glycidyl ester containing 12 to 14 carbon atoms, of an aliphatic saturated monocarboxylic acid with a tertiary or quaternary .alpha.-carbon atom; and B) 90 to 70 % by weight of at least two unsaturated copolymerisable monomers, at least one of which contains at least one carboxyl group, wherein component A) is introduced first to a reaction zone and is then reacted at a temperature of at least 140.degree.C with component B) and a radical initiator, the component B) containing a monomer having carboxyl groups, wherein for the preparation of low-viscosity copolymers component A) is reacted at 140 to 200.degree.C by substance polymerisation until a degree of re-action of a least 95 % is achieved, the component B) containing at least 3.3 % by weight of the monomer having carboxyl groups, and an article coated with a product of said process.

(B) 10 to 50% by weight of one or several cross linking agents, which are compounds with methane tricarboxylic acid amide units of the formula which contain, on the average, at least 2 groups with reactive hydrogens per molecule and are derived from a reaction product of a monoisocyanate or polyisocyanate with a malonic acid derivative, and C) 0 to 10% by weight of one or several capped diisocyanates and/or polyisocyanates, as well as its use.
