Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the start-up method for the information recorder to use a computer system as quickly as possible. SOLUTION: When the information recorder equipped with an actuator arm for supporting a flexible cable is to be started up by this method, first of all, a power source is supplied (a process 201). Then, a start-up operation excluding production of a correcting tension data of the flexible cable is executed (a process 202). Afterward, an access command from a host computer is made to be in the executable state (processes 203 and 204). Subsequently, the production of the correcting tension data of the flexible cable is executed (a process 205). Consequently, the command can be processed prior to the production of the correcting tension data.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To detach an actuator from magnetic attraction force at the time of starting the operation of the disk storage device of a type for preventing the damage of the device by fixing the actuator for moving a conversion head on a recording medium by the magnetic attraction force when it is not in the operation. CONSTITUTION: An acceleration current Ia and acceleration time Ta to be added to the actuator 6 required for performing detachment against the attraction force of a permanent magnet 12 and a deceleration current Id and deceleration time Td to be added to the actuator 6 required for stopping the detached actuator 6 to the prescribed position of a data area are supplied to the disk storage device 1 beforehand. At the time of releasing the fixation of the actuator 6, the actuator is driven corresponding to the acceleration current, the acceleration time, the deceleration current and the deceleration time stored beforehand.
