Abstract: A method and systems for linking the certificate to the signed file to which it is associated is disclosed. According to the method and systems of the invention, the address or URL wherein the certificate is stored is encoded in the filename of the signed file so as to be transmitted jointly with the file. When receiving such a signed file, a first step consists in extracting and decoding the certificate address from the filename. Using the certificate address, the certificate can be accessed and checked before opening and authenticating the signed file. In a preferred embodiment, the signature of a signed file is based on the file content and on a private key while the corresponding certificate comprises at least the corresponding public key.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for hyperlinking a main file with N target files stored in a computer readable medium (N≧1). A primary filename of the main file, which is hyperlinked with N target file addresses to form a composite filename, has a form of F.E. Abstract: A method of marking an original text document in which existing inter-word blank characters are altered is disclosed. A reversible transform is first applied so that inter-word intervals become exclusively comprised of odd numbers of blank characters. Transformed original text is then split in two subsets and an authentication pattern is merged into first subset by adding inter-word blank characters. A blurring pattern is computed which further modify the number of blank characters so as to hide the authentication pattern. Second subset is blurred too before subsets are recombined to obtain a marked text susceptible of authentication. A method of authenticating a text document marked according to the here above method is also disclosed. The system and the methods of the invention permit that a text document be authenticable while authentication pattern is imbedded, and deeply hidden, into the text document itself. Also, the exact original format, including the numbers of inter-word blanks, can be restored by the recipient.

Abstract: In a data processing system, a circuit and methods for carrying out sequential logic functions are disclosed aimed at overcoming the problems encountered with the standard approach for designing synchronous logic, timed from a single clock source. When propagation delays through logic elements and their interconnections are becoming of the same order of magnitude as the clock period necessary to achieve the required level of performance of a logic function, the distribution of a common timing reference or clock over an entire function is becoming the limiting factor. In a complete departure from the standard approach, logic functions of the invention are capable of supplying their own timing information to their interface thus, self asserting their result and capable of requesting new set of inputs when needed. Therefore, logic functions of the invention are autonomous and do not rely on the distribution of a clock to operate.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and a method for enabling an auditor, during the course of a presentation, to select one or a plurality o f topics drawing his attention or interest, and, immediately after said presentation or at a later time, to access information related to the topics previously selected. The present invention requires the minimum possible effort and involvement from the auditor (simply pressing a selection button on the auditor's device). When the presentation is over, the auditor can direct ly consult the information related with the selected topics. The claimed system is based on a synchronization of the local times of the speaker workstation and auditor's devices according to a same universal-time, so that the times at which selections of interesting topics are made by auditors can be correlate d with the time intervals during which the presentation foils are presented by the speaker. In a particular embodiment, the synchronization between the speaker workstation and the audience devices is done referring to an univers al time based, for instance on a satellite system.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and a method for selecting, accessing and retrieving directly from a physical (i.e., hard-copy) document, hypertext documents located on a user workstation or on one or a plurality of servers connected to a communication network, and for displaying the retrieved hypertext documents over said physical document. The information is accessed by the user simply by touching with a finger items (i.e., words, letters, symbols, pictures, icons, . . . ) that are highlighted on an electronic hypertext document displayed over the physical document. The method, for use in a user system comprises the steps of: -identifying a physical document, this physical document comprising one or a plurality of pages; -identifying a page of said physical document; -identifying and locating an electronic document associated with the identified page referring to a document hyperlink table; said document hyperlink table comprising for each page of the physical document the identification and location of an electronic document; -accessing and retrieving the electronic document associated with the identified page; -displaying the retrieved electronic document by means of an opto-touch foil placed over the identified page.
