Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rigid resynchronization pattern included in an RLL coding data by coding and decoding a run length restricted code, generating the rigid resynchronization pattern to put it into a channel bit stream and restoring the resynchronization pattern from an RLL coding bit stream. SOLUTION: A resynchronization generating mechanism 55 supplies a rigid resynchronization pattern which is put into a channel data bit stream by a write formatter 25. The resynchronization pattern is strengthened, when the RLL coding is carried out by an encoder 11 which excludes a specific pattern as a code word. A bit shift operation is applied to the resynchronization pattern to shift its head transition to its end transition, so that the pattern will not exceed the (k) restriction. Then the bit shift patterns are excluded from the code words which are generated by the encoder 11.

Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a data detection method and a data detection apparatus for performing robust detection of data modulated into a servo pattern of a timing base. SOLUTION: First, a timing interval between sequential change stripes is detected, and then, an interval comparison logic circuit 112 determines whether '0' or '1' is represented. Thereafter, a first counter 106 increments the number of the compared intervals that represent '0', while a second counter 107 increments the number of the compared intervals that represent '1'. Then, a bit comparison logic circuit 123 compares the incremented number with a predefined reference value 122 for every frame. When either one is fitted to the reference value 122, the corresponding '0' or '1' is identified as a bit value for the frame.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maximize the data storage capacity of a data storage disk while maintaining the relatively linear addressability of an addressable data storage area on the data storage disk. SOLUTION: The data storage disk is provided with an addressable track independent of the length of disk or helical track rotation and provided with the non-integer pieces of addressable tracks and sectors. Plural rotation bands provided in a radial direction are provided with the fixed number of rotations and the increasing number of the addressable tracks in a band on the outer side of the radial direction of the band. The respective bands are divided into plural rotation groups and the respective groups are provided with the fixed number of the rotations. The respective groups of the band are provided with the same number of the addressable tracks. The respective rotation groups start at an anchor sector 115 fixed at a reference circumferential direction position 100 on the disk and the other sectors of the entire groups are positioned in the circumferential direction of the anchor sector.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a synchronization recognizable even when an error is occurred in the detecting of a synchronous pattern by allowing an error resistant binary coded mark to include a coded pattern consisting of fixed plural bits and allowing the coded pattern to be at the maximum Hamming distance from the known pattern connected to the number of bits being in the fixed plural bits. SOLUTION: An error resistant binary coded synchronous mark is written as a fixed length coded pattern being at the maximum Hamming distance from the known VFO pattern connected to the number of bits being in the fixed length pattern to be used by a formatter 45 and it is transmitted to a write channel 32. This synchronous mark is also recorded to an opposite direction at the back of coded data and the recorded synchronous mark must become to be at the maximum pattern distance in the opposite direction from the connected known VFO pattern. As a result, a possibility that any part of synchronous patterns is confused with the VFO pattern is low and when an effective synchronous pattern appears in front of the coded data, the synchronization is recognized at a correct position.
Abstract:
A circuit for simultaneously detecting both MO and ROM signals reflected from an optical disk so that both signals are present and useable without switching from one to the other. The circuit eliminates switching time and switching transients. Two photodetectors are arranged to sense P and S components of polarized light in order to stimulate a differential amplifier and produce an output representative of MO recorded data. A second amplifier is connected to at least one of the photodetectors to produce an output representative of ROM recorded data and also representative of defects in the MO portion of the optical disk.

Během souvislého pohybu záznamového média detektor připojenýk servo systému souvisle čte registrační datas lineární pozicí modulovaná do předem zaznamenaného servo vzorku. Interpolátor interpoluje předem zaznamenaná registrační data k zajištění přesných registračních informací pro datové skupiny. Poté co pohon zastaví záznamové médium, pak provede jednorázový posun zpět média a obnoví pohyb, jsou zajištěny zvolené přečtené a interpolované registrační informace.Detektor znovu přečte a interpoluje předem zaznamenaná registrační data a komparátor porovná znovu přečtené a interpolované registračníinformace se zajištěnými přečtenými a interpolovanými registračními informacemi a libovolný předem stanovený ofset, a indukuje shodu porovnání. Datový formátovač (54) připojený ke komparátoru (150), reagující na indikaci shody porovnání, synchronizuje čtení a/nebo zápis datových skupin na záznamové médium (70).
Abstract:
Synchronized data is written to magnetic tape while reducing the number of backhitches. A controller detects a pattern of synchronizing events for received data records to be written to tape; writes each transaction of data records to the magnetic tape; accumulates the synchronized transactions in a buffer; and subsequently recursively writes the accumulated transactions of data records from the buffer to the magnetic tape in a sequence. A single backhitch may be employed to place the recursively written accumulated data records following the preceding data, maximizing performance and capacity.
