Zpusobindexování muze být efektivní i za prítomnosti promenných, které nejsou vysoce korelovány. Dalsí nástroje slouzí pro efektivní provádení exaktního vyhledávání a vyhledávání nejblizsího souseda s vyuzitím informace o shlukování (111) a informace o snízení poctu rozmeru (112). Jeden príklad snízení poctu rozmeru vyuzívá postupu dekompozice singulární hodnoty. Zpusob muze být rovnez aplikován rekurzivne na kazdý ze shluku o snízeném poctu rozmeru. Snízení poctu rozmeru muze být rovnez aplikováno na celou databázi jako prvotní krok pri vytvárení indexu.

Abstract: An improved multidimensional data indexing technique that generates compact indexes such that most or all of the index can reside in main memory at any time. During the clustering and dimensionality reduction, clustering information and dimensionality reduction information are generated for use in a subsequent search phase. The indexing technique can be effective even in the presence of variables which are not highly correlated. Other features provide for efficiently performing exact and nearest neighbor searches using the clustering information and dimensionality reduction information. One example of the dimensionality reduction uses a singular value decomposition technique. The method can also be recursively applied to each of the reduced-dimensionality clusters. The dimensionality reduction can also be applied to the entire database as a first step of the index generation.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for intermixing circuit and packet data on a shared transmission medium. With this invention, the history of gaps between transmitted circuit frames is used to predict future gap sizes. If the size of a predicted gap is larger than the size of a frame of packet data to be transmitted, then the packet data is inserted in the next gap. If a circuit data frame arrives before the completion of transmission of a packet frame, the circuit data will be stored in an insertion buffer until completion of transmission of the packet frame.

Abstract: Systems and methods for describing video content establish video description records which include an object set (24), an object hierarchy (26) and entity relation graphs (28). Video objects can include global ojects, segment objects and local objects. The video objects are further defined by a number of features organized in classes, which in turn are further defined by a number of feature descriptors (36, 38 and 40). The relationships (44) between and among the objects in the object set (24) are defined by the object hierarchy (26) and entity relation graphs (28). The video description records provide a standard vehicle for describing the content and context of video information for subsequent access and processing by computer applications such as search engines, filters, and archive systems.

Abstract: A method and system enables network intermediaries such as proxies to transcode multimedia data without violating end-to-end security guarantees. In one embodiment, a content provider decomposes a data stream into a plurality of components, each of which are independently encrypted. In a preferred embodiment, an intermediary or proxy performs transcoding of the components by prioritizing and dropping predetermined components, in accordance with unencrypted clear-text metadata associated with each component, without the need for decrypting the components. Clear-text metadata preferably provides a semantic understanding of the absolute or relative importance/priority of the components with respect to each other, thereby facilitating the transcoding process. The destination/client device can subsequently decrypt the components transmitted by the transcoding proxy and reassemble them into a representation of the original data content.

Abstract: The equaliser includes an optical wavelength demultiplexer for demultiplexing an optical signal into a number of individual channels, with each of the channels centered at a corresp one of the wavelengths. Also the equaliser includes an optical multiplexer and a number of optical connections for connecting output terminals of the demultiplexer to input terminals of the multiplexer. A number of metallic strips is provided, while each of the strips are deposited on a corresp one of the optical connections. Each of the strips is of a set length such that the optical signal is equalised over the channels at an output terminal of the optical multiplexer. The multiplexer, the demultiplexer and the optical connections o are monolithically integrated on a silicon substrate.
