    Abstract: Apparatuses, methods, and storage media associated with placing graphical elements in a graphical user interface (GUI) in view of a region of interests (ROI) are disclosed herein. An apparatus may comprise a GUI manager to receive a designation of a region of interest, ROI, of a first graphical element of a GUI to be rendered on a display device; and to place a second graphical element into the GUI in view of the ROI of the first graphical element. The GUI manager may be loaded into the memory and executed by the processor circuitry of a computing device. The first graphical element may have one or more ROIs, and there may be one or more instances of the first graphical element, placed over one or more display devices.

    Abstract: Particular embodiments described herein provide for an electronic device that includes a display, a backlight for the display, and one or more ambient light guiding layers to supplement the backlight with ambient light. In an example, one of the one or more ambient light guiding layers is located on a back side of the electronic device. An ambient light guide monitoring engine can monitor an intensity of ambient light and a display engine can use data from the ambient light monitoring engine to determine the intensity of the backlight for the display.

    Abstract: Components, devices, systems, and methods for providing a movable haptic actuator for a user interacting with a simulated environment. The simulated environment may be virtual reality, augmented reality, or mixed reality. A fastener may be used to couple the haptic actuator to a wearable article worn by the user. The haptic actuator communicates with a controller to receive information to provide feedback to the user during operations of the simulated environment. The haptic actuator may be movable from a first position on the wearable article to a second position.

    Abstract: Video overlays are modified to enhance readability. In one example a frame of a video sequence of frames is received and an overlay for display on the frame is received. A location of the overlay in the frame is determined. Background pixels in the frame that are in the overlay location are determined. Values of the identified pixels are analyzed and an overlay color is selected based on the analysis. The overlay is then blended into the frame using the selected overlay color.
