Abstract: According to an aspect, a display apparatus includes a segment necessary luminance calculator, a segment necessary luminance corrector, and a light emission amount calculator. The segment necessary luminance calculator creates segment necessary luminance data indicating the luminance necessary for each of light-emitting segments in accordance with image data. The segment necessary luminance corrector corrects the segment necessary luminance data for each of light-emitting blocks according to the highest luminance of one or a plurality of light-emitting segments included in each light-emitting block, in accordance with control data for dividing a light-emitting region and a display region into a plurality of blocks and the segment necessary luminance data. The light emission amount calculator calculates the amount of light emission from the light-emitting segments in accordance with the segment necessary luminance data corrected by the segment necessary luminance corrector and outputs a light emission amount control signal to the light emitter.

Abstract: According to an aspect, a display apparatus includes: an image display panel including a plurality of pixels and displaying an image; and a signal processor generating a second signal by multiplying signal values for a plurality of sub-pixels making up each of the plurality of pixels by a gain, the signal values being included in a first signal that is an input signal of the image. The the signal processor calculates a luminance of each of the plurality of pixels based on the signal values of the sub-pixels included in the respective pixels. The signal processor increases the gain by which the signal values of the sub-pixels of the pixel having a luminance greater than a first luminance threshold are multiplied, in accordance with the luminance of the corresponding pixel.

Abstract: According to an aspect, a display device includes an image display panel and a signal processing unit. The signal processing unit derives a generation signal for a fourth sub-pixel in each of pixels based on an input signal for a first sub-pixel, an input signal for a second sub-pixel, an input signal for a third sub-pixel, and an extension coefficient. The signal processing unit derives a correction value based on a hue of an input color corresponding to a color to be displayed based on the input signal for the first sub-pixel, the input signal for the second sub-pixel, and the input signal for the third sub-pixel. The signal processing unit derives the output signal for the fourth sub-pixel in each of the pixels based on the generation signal for the fourth sub-pixel and the correction value and outputs the output signal to the fourth sub-pixel.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display system includes a display device, a rolling shutter camera, a shutter and a control device. The display device includes a display area and a light emitting element. The rolling shutter camera is arranged behind the display device. The shutter is arranged between the display device and the camera. The control device controls the operation of the shutter to block light traveling toward the camera during a first sub-frame period during which the light emitting element is turned on and an image is displayed on the display area, and to transmit light traveling toward the camera during a second sub-frame period during which the light emitting elements is not turned on and the display area is made transparent.

Abstract: According to an aspect, a display device includes: a first liquid crystal panel; a second liquid crystal panel; a light source configured to emit light; and a controller configured to control the first liquid crystal panel and the second liquid crystal panel based on an image signal corresponding to a resolution of the second liquid crystal panel. The first liquid crystal panel includes dimming pixels, and the second liquid crystal panel includes pixels. More than one of the pixels is arranged within a region of each of the dimming pixels. The controller performs blurring processing and determination of dimming gradation values as processing related to operation of the second liquid crystal panel. Each of the dimming gradation values corresponds to a highest gradation value set after the blurring processing among gradation values set for the more than one pixel arranged within the region of each of the dimming pixels.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal panel having pixels with a first electrode and a second electrode; a control circuit; and a counter. The number and an arrangement of pixels where a potential of the second electrode is higher than that of the first electrode in a first mode equal the number and an arrangement of pixels where the potential of the first electrode is higher than that of the second electrode in a second mode. The counter increases a count while the panel operates in the first mode, and decreases the count while the panel operates in the second mode. The control circuit operates the panel in the first mode when the count at a determination timing is not greater than a first threshold, and operates the panel in the second mode when the count at the determination timing is not less than a second threshold.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a light source device includes a plurality of light emitting elements including at least first and second light emitting elements, lightguide, first circuit, second circuit, and controller. The lightguide includes a first surface on which light from light emitting elements is incident and a second surface through which the light exits. The first circuit connects light emitting elements in series. The second circuit can bypass each of light emitting elements. The controller turns on light emitting elements using the first circuit if light emitting elements function normally, and if one of light emitting elements functions abnormally, the controller turns on the light emitting element functioning normally using the second circuit.
