Abstract: PURPOSE: The titled composition preventing deterioration of hair caused by permanent wave treatment, keeping wave stably for a long time, obtained by blending a second agent for permanent wave with a specific glyceryl ether, a surface active agent, and cationic high polymer compound.
CONSTITUTION: A second agent composition for permanent wave is blended with three components of (A) an α-mono (methyl branched alkyl) glyceryl ether shown by the formula I (R is 12W24C methyl branched saturated hydrocarbon), (B) an anionic surface active agent selected from an anionic surface active agent, and ampholytic surface active agent, and (C) a cationic high polymer compound. Especially the compound shown by the formula I wherein R is a group shown by the formula II (m is 2W14 integer; n is 3W11 integer; m+n is 9W21 integer) is preferable. The prepared second agent composition prevents hair from deteriorating, forms tough wave, has improved conditioning effect such as touch, combing properties, etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a deodorizing base material effective for mercaptan, etc. by forming acids such as inorg. and org. acids, inorg. alkalis or hydrolyzates of keratin materials such as protein decomposing enzymes in solvent solns. or adding the same to base materials for synthetic high polymer gels. CONSTITUTION:Hydrolyzates of keratin materials are contained. The hydrolyzates are formed by acid hydrolysis of keratin materials such as hair, feathers, nails, hoofs or the like by inorg. and org. acids or hydrolysis thereof by inorg. alkalis such as sodium hydroxide, potasium hydroxide or the like or hydrolysis by acidic protein decomposing enzymes such as pepsine, protease or the like, whereby the hydrolyzates of 200-5,000 average mol.wts. are obtained. Such hydrolyzates are dissolved in a solvent or are emulsified by using surfactants or are added to base materials for natural or synthetic high polymer gels such as agar-agar, carrageenan, polyethylene glycol or the like, whereby the compsn. for deodorizing and dehydrating agents is obtd.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A hair cosmetic that contains an oxidizing agent as a major component, further xanthan gum and/or tara gum, thus preventing itself from sagging on application and showing easy usability and very good oxidation effect.
CONSTITUTION: The objective hair cosmetic contains 1W10wt%, preferably 4W 6wt% of oxidizing agent such as hydrogen peroxide, bromate alkali metal salt and 0.1W5.0wt%, of xanthan gum and/or tara gum, preferably containing 0.2W 0.5wt% of it in the permanent wave second solution, 1.0W3.0wt%, in the permanent hair dyeing second solution and decoloring agent. The resultant cosmetic can contain a pearl-like glosser such as fish scales or mica or fatty acid glycol ester.

Abstract: PURPOSE:A hydrate of keratinous substance such as animal hair or human hair is frozen and crushed into a powder to produce the titled powder which is widely used as a starting material for cosmetics and a heavy metal adsorbent, because of its being colorless and odorless, in a short time. CONSTITUTION:A keratinous substance such as animal hair, human hair, feathers or nails is brought into contact with an aqueous solution containing a surface active agent such as a 10-16C alkylbenzensulfonate salt to give a hydrate keratinous substance containing water more than 0.3 times the keratin substance. The product is frozen lower than -80 deg.C, crushed into a fine powder. The keratinous substance is insoluble in water and macromolecular, thus being hardly used as it is, however, the above process gives a colorless, odorless and uniform product in a short time. The crushing is effected preferably by compression, especially gradual compression or by shocking.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a hair rinse composition having excellent hair conditioning effect, by using a cationic surface-active agent in combination with a specific derivative of keratin decomposition product. CONSTITUTION:A composition containing (A) a cationic surface-active agent, pref. a quaternary ammonium slat of formulaI(one or two of R1-R4 are 8- 20C long-chain alkyl or long-chain hydroxyalkyl, and the others are 1-3C alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, or benzyl; X is halogen or alkyl), e.g. distearyldimethylammonium chloride and (B) a derivative of decomposed keratin, selected from the group consisting of (i) hydrolyzed keratin (the product obtained by hydrolyzing keratin with an acid, an alkali, etc.), (ii) alkali metal salt of oxidative decomposition product of keratin, and (iii) alkali metal salt of the derivative (e.g. formula II) at the thiol group of the reducive decomposition product of keratin. The amounts of the components (A) and (B) in the whole composition are 0.01-10wt% and 0.1-5wt%, respectively.
