Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title radiation-curable resin by reaction of a specific dihydroxyl compound with a diisocyanate and a polyol into a urethane oligomer which is then allowed to react with a diisocyanate followed by (meth)acryloyl modification of the terminal of the resulting product. CONSTITUTION:A dihydroxyl compound of the formula (R1, R2 and R4 are each alkylene; R3 is hydrocarbon group of diisocyanate compound origin; R5 is H or CH3) is allowed to react with a diisocyanate compound and a polyol compound to produce a urethane oligomer with its both ends of the main molecular chain carrying hydroxyl groups. Thence, this oligomer or its mixture with a second polyol compound is allowed to react with a diisocyanate compound to synthesize a polyurethane with its both ends of the main molecular chain being either OHs or NCOs followed by (meth)acryloyl modification of said both ends, thus obtaiing the objective resin.

In formula I, R1, R2 and R4 denote an alkylene group; R3 denotes a hydrocarbon group derived from a diisocyanate group; R6 denotes H or CH3; A denotes a hydrocarbon group derived from lactones; (m), (n) denote 0 or >=1 integer [there is case when both (m) and (n) are simultaneously 0]. Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve output and durability in particular by coating a compd. incorporated with a perfluoroalkyl group and plural pieces of double bonds in one molecule on a magnetic coated film which is preliminarily partially cured and curing said film, thereby bonding the lubricating agent layer onto the magnetic coated film. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic coating compd. consisting of a mixture composed of a resin compsn. having the double bonds of the nature that the compd. is cured by electron rays, solvent and magnetic powder is coated on a base and after the solvent is removed, the coating is subjected to a surface smoothing treatment to form the magnetic coated film. The magnetic coated film is then precured by projecting the electron rays thereon and thereafter, the compd. contg. at least the perfluoroalkyl group and at least two electron rays curing double bonds in one molecule is coated thereon at the time of projecting the electron rays to said film and curing the film. The migration of the lubricating agent in the magnetic layer is thereby prevented and various defects associated with the addition or coating of the lubricating agent are overcome.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the dispersibility of magnetic powder, surface smoothness and durability by consisting a binder of a polyurethane resin produced by using a specific lactone-modified diol. CONSTITUTION:The binder for magnetic recording consisting of the polyurethane resin produced by using the lactone-modified diol expressed by the formula is used. A magnetic layer constituted by dispersing ferromagnetic powder into such binder is provided on a nonmagnetic base. The lactone-modified diol to be used as the binder has preferably the number average mol.wt. ranging 400-60,000 in terms of the flexibility of the resulted polyurethane resin and the toughness of the resin. The ratio of the binder and the pulverous ferromagnetic powder is preferably in a 10-100pts.wt. binder range with 100pts. pulverous ferromagnetic powder. The pulverous ferromagnetic powder is exemplified by gamma-Fe2O3, mixed crystals or gamma-Fe2O3 and Fe3O4, Co-modified iron oxide, CrO.2, iron, etc. The dispersibility and durability are thereby extremely improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve magnetic powder dispersibility, durability and surface smoothness by using a specific polyurethane resin as a binder. CONSTITUTION:The polyurethane resin having at least >=1 respectively among an SO2M (M is H, Li, Na or K) and primary or secondary OH group both in combination in the molecular chain is used. A magnetic recording medium is produced by coating a magnetic paint for which the polyurethane resin is used as the binder and to which pulverous ferromagnetic powder and additive, etc. are added together with an org. solvent, on a non-magnetic substrate and drying the coating. The ratio of the binder and the pulverous ferromagnetic powder is 10-100pts.wt., more preferably 20-50pts.wt. by 100pts.wt. pulverous ferromagnetic powder. The mechanical strength and wear resistance are not enough if the ratio of the binder is below 10pts.wt. The magnetic powder density in the magnetic layer decreases and the satisfactory performance (reproduced output, etc.) as the magnetic recording medium is not obtainable if the ratio of the binder is increased to 100pts.wt. or above.

The radiations are then projected to the magnetic layer. The durability is thereby improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a lubricating agent matrix having satisfactory mechanical strength by incorporating a compd. having a perfluoroalkyl group and double bond into a magnetic layer essentially consisting of magnetic powder and electron ray curing resin binder. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic coating compd. essentially consisting of the magnetic powder and electron ray curing resin binder is coated on a nonmagnetic base and is dried. The compd. having the perfluoroalkyl group and at least two double bonds in one molecule is coated thereon. The coating is dried again at need and thereafter, electron rays are projected thereto from above or the magnetic coating compd. essentially consisting of the magnetic powder and electron ray curing resin binder is coated on the base and dried. This compd. is preferably used at 1-10wt% by the weight of the electron ray curing resin binder. The bonding density of the compd. having the perfluoroalkyl group exhibiting a lubricating effect to each other or between said compd. and the binder resin is thereby increased and the lubricating agent matrix is formed.
