    Abstract: A liquid crystal display having a structure such that two sheets of substrates 1 each provided with a transparent electrode 2 and an orientation film 3 are disposed opposite to each other through a spacer particle 5, which has a elastic modulus in compression of 370 to 550 kg/mm at the 10% displacement of particle diameter, and a liquid crystal layer 6 is provided. According to the present invention, a uniform display quality can be realized through a reduction in the cell gap deviation caused when use is made of a thin sheet substrate.

    Abstract: A magnetic recording meidum which comprises a non-magnetic support and a magnetic layer thereon comprising a binder and powder of a ferromagnetic substance dispersed in the binder, the binder comprising a crosslinked product of a polyurethane having an average molecular weight of 900 to 50,000 and comprising at least one unit of the formula (I): (I) in which R1, R2 and R4 each are an alkylene, R3 is a hydrocarbon group derived from a di-isocyanate compound and R5 is hydrogen or methyl, in one molecular thereof and having -OH, -NCO or -OOC-CR5=CH2 at both terminals of the main chain thereof, provided that the terminals of the main chain are not -NCO when the molecular weight of the polyu.rethane ranges from 900 to 10,000. The polyurehtane resin can be prepared by using as a starting material a polymerizable dihydorxyl compound of the general formula (II): (II) in which R1, R2 and R4 each are an alkylene, R3 is a hydrocarbon group and R5 is -H or -CH3.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve durability by using a specific polyurethane resin, copolymer resin contg. a vinyl chloride unit and ester compd. having specific acrylate double bonds as a binder and projecting radiations to the magnetic layer formed thereof. CONSTITUTION:Three kinds of the binders; the polyurethane resin which has the acrylic or methacrylic double bonds at the molecule terminal, has 5,000-40,000 number average mol.wt. in analysis by ger permeation chromatography, >=200kg/cm breaking strength in a tension test at 100mm/min tensile strength, 100-400% breaking elongation, >=150kg/cm 70% modulus and >=40 deg.C glass transition temp. in analysis by dynamic viscoelasticity, the copolymer resin contg. the vinyl chloride unit and the ester compd. having the (meth)acrylate double bonds expressed by the formula are used in combination as the binder. The radiations are then projected to the magnetic layer. The durability is thereby improved.
