Abstract:
Disclosed is a system for authoring metadata that describe multimedia contents. A storage device loads information on a currently edited metadata document so as to describe multimedia contents, and a metadata editor visualizes the loaded metadata document according to a predetermined method, and allows a user to edit the metadata document. A multimedia access reproducer accesses the input multimedia contents to reproduce corresponding multimedia contents, and an inter-media metadata interface links the multimedia access reproducer and the metadata editor to browse contents and effectively edit information relating to a specific interval of multimedia contents. A metadata output device outputs information on the loaded metadata document according to a predefined format.
Abstract:
Techniques for generating utility-based descriptors from compressed multimedia information are disclosed. A preferred method includes the steps of receiving least a segment of compressed multimedia information, determining two or more portions of utility based descriptor information based on one or more adaptation operations, each corresponding to a unique target rate, adapting the compressed multimedia segment by each the portions of utility based descriptor information to generate adapted multimedia segments, using a quality management method to generate measurement for each adapted multimedia segment, and generating a utility based descriptors based on the portions of utility based descriptor information and corresponding quality measurements.

Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for synchronizing and providing a stereoscopic image are provided. The method includes storing a first image, receiving a second image that forms a stereoscopic image with the first image correlated, synchronizing the first image and the second image, and outputting the synchronized two images.
Abstract:
A multi-object audio encoding and decoding apparatus supporting a post downmix signal may be provided. The multi-object audio encoding apparatus may include: an object information extraction and downmix generation unit to generate object information and a dowmnix signal from input object signals; a parameter determination unit to determine a downmix information parameter using the extracted downmix signal and the post downmix signal; and a bitstream generation unit to combine the object information and the downmix information parameter, and to generate an object bitstream.
Abstract:
Provided are intelligent water ring scan apparatus and method thereof, image encoding/decoding apparatus using the water ring scanning and method thereof, and a computer-readable recording medium for recording a program that implements the methods. The apparatus or method of this research selectively improves the image quality of a particular image part that needs to be encoded with priority by transmitting the image data of the particular image part suitably for a human visual system so as to provide a visually improved image. The encoding apparatus of this research differentiates the amount of image data depending on the significance of a certain image part to process the image in various qualities suitably for the human visual system. The methods of this research can be applied to an image encoding/decoding process.
Abstract:
A three-dimensional audio signal processing apparatus using a Head Related Transfer Function (HRTF) includes an audio decoder for decoding audio data to restore original audio signals and a three-dimensional audio generator for generating three-dimensional signals corresponding to the audio signals restored by using the HRTF modeled according to physical characteristics of an user, wherein the HRTF modeled according to physical characteristics of an user is an individualized HRTF.
