Abstract:
Articles which are intended to be sterilized are placed into a confined volume and are subjected to neutral species of an electrical discharge while maintaining the volume glowless and substantially field free by interposing a barrier between the articles and the discharge, the barrier being transparent to neutral species and opaque to charged species emanating from the discharge.
Abstract:
The application describes a control pendant (400) for controlling a multi-segment patient table (100) to assume a variety of different positions or configurations. The pendant has safety features including automatic shutoff of power to the keys under selected conditions and backlighting of the keys when power is being supplied (e.g., when keys are operational) to provide improved visibility in low-light environments. The control pendant further has an ergonomically effective shape and keyboard layout. An icon (302) representing the table (100) and its segments is located on the keyboard, and the keyswitches are arranged with respect to the icon to facilitate rapid and accurate visual identification of keys which operate particular table segments.
Abstract:
An ergonomically designed professional services chair baseplate (10) that facilitates ease of operation for both the service provider and client. A narrow area is provided at the center section of the baseplate (10) such that the baseplate does not protrude beyond the vertical projection of the edge of the chair (14). This narrow section is further sized and shaped to easily accommodate standard cleaning and buffing machine wheels. Enlarged areas (24, 26) are positioned fore and aft of the narrow section to provide stability to the chair. A sloped shoulder (28) on each side of the aft enlarged areas may hold a chair controlling foot switch (16).
Abstract:
Handle (10) for manipulating a lamp above an operating table including a grip portion (11), a connecting portion (15) above the grip portion for connection to such lamp, said handle including radially outwardly projecting support means (14) between the grip portion and the connecting portion, and a mountable-demountable protective disc (17) fitted over the connecting portion and supported by the support means. Also a package of two such handles lying side by side with a disc underlying and a disc overlying the pair of handles and secured in place.
Abstract:
A double articulated headrest (30) for dental patient chairs (10) includes a mounting mechanism with a headrest support rod (46) extending through one end of a central clamping member (50), a chair connector rod (74) extending through another end of the central clamping member and locking means (110) operable with one hand to compress elements of the central clamping member (50) such that they simultaneously releasably clamp the chair connector rod (74) and the headrest support rod (46) with respect to the central clamping member.
Abstract:
A seal for a pressure chamber (10) is provided. The seal is formed by welding a loop of rigid tubular material (24) to the perimeter of the entry of a pressure chamber, conforming to the shape of the perimeter. A side wall of this tubing is machined off to produce a continuous slot (18) and a 'C'-shaped channel running along the perimeter of the entry. Tubular gasket material (16) is positioned in this 'C'-shaped channel to extend partially out of the slot to seal against the door (30) of the pressure chamber. A large diameter gasket may be used, and the interior of the gasket may be pressurized by a vent channel (36) connected with the interior of the pressure chamber.
Abstract:
A lighthead assembly includes a plurality (three) individual pods with spotlights pivotally mounted symmetrically around an adjustment post. The post carries cam surfaces linked to the pods for synchronous tilting of the pods by rotation of the post. The post may be rotated directly by an axial handle or remotely by means of mechanical linkage.
Abstract:
A germicidal composition capable of action as an antiseptic or as a disinfectant contains a solvent, iodine and an anionic surfactant, such as nonylphenoxy(ethyleneoxy)4 ethanol sulfate. An admixture with sodium lauryl sulfate is preferred. Said composition, when diluted with water, has a free iodine content greater than that of the iodophors. Methods of making and using the composition are also disclosed.
