    Abstract: The needle bar (1) engaged in a pivoting cradle (2) is integral with a journal (3) connected by a connecting member (8) to a link (4) driven from the drive shaft (12) of the machine. In order to permit the head (23) of a loop holding member (25), mounted in the pedestal of the sewing machine, to engage in a loop (29) of the needle thread (27) during the ascending course of the needle (22), whatever may be its decentration, the connecting member (8) is formed by a bent extension of the crank pin of the link (4) engaged in a bore (7) of the journal (3).

    Abstract: Machine pour travailler des matériaux comprenant: un bâti inférieur, un montant solidaire par une de ses extrémités du bâti inférieur et un bras supérieur solidaire du montant et placé dans une position espacée au-dessus du bâti inférieur. Le bras supérieur, le montant et le bâti inférieur forme un ensemble unitaire rigide. Un premier organe rotatif est prévu dans le bras supérieur et possède une extrémité faisant face audit bâti inférieur. Un deuxième organe rotatif est prévu dans le bâti inférieur et possède une extrémité faisant face au bras supérieur, et un troisième organe rotatif est prévu dans le bâti inférieur et fait saillie sensiblement horizontalement du bâti inférieur. Un moteur est disposé dans le montant et des moyens d'entrainement sont prévus dans le montant, bras supérieur et bâti inférieur, pour relier le moteur aux premier et deuxième organes pour les entrainer en rotation. Des moyens sont prévus pour relier ensemble les troisième et deuxième organes rotatifs de façon à ce que les moyens d'entrainement entrainant le deuxième organe en rotation entrainent également en rotation le troisième organe de rotation. Un plateau est superposé au bâti inférieur et possède un orifice, et la face inférieure du plateau est rendue solidaire à une équerre dont la partie à angle droit par rapport au plateau est incurvée à sa base, et est montée de façon coulissante sur une coulisse incurvée d'un support vertical. Un coulisseau est solidaire de l'équerre, le support vertical ayant une entaille incurvée qui est engagée par le coulisseau, la coulisse incurvée et l'entaille incurvée ayant un axe virtuel pour centre commun.

Heading D1G A free arm sewing machine comprises a base having two individual longitudinal supports 7 on each side of the free arm 4 which connected to the pedestal. A panel 15 is hinged at 16 to each support 7 and flaps 12, 13 are hinged to respective panels 15 at 17. The flaps 12, 13 form an enclosure for the machine as shown in the chain dotted position and have extensions 19 which can extend the worksurface 10 of the free arm 4 or can be adjacent the panels 15 to expose the free arm 4. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,131,710.
