    Abstract: A connector assembly (10) includes two interengaging plug connector and receptacle connector halves (16,18) with power and circuitry terminals (52,82,38,74) integrated therein. Each of the plug and receptacle connector halves (16,18) include respective dual plug and receptacle housings (60,20) spaced apart from each other in a substantially parallel relationship. The dual connector housings (60,20) of the plug and receptacle connector halves (16,18) are evenly spaced apart by bridging pieces (50,80) which extend between the connector housings to connect them together. The bridging pieces may either be integrally formed with the connector housings (20,60) or they may be separately formed (208) from the connector housings and include engagement members (210,212) which engage the connector housings. The bridging pieces (50,80) have power terminals (52,82) disposed therein so that the connector effects a connection not only between signal circuits of the circuit boards, but also between power circuits.

    Abstract: A low-profile edge card connector (1) includes an elongated dielectric housing (2) and a plurality of conductive terminals (3). The housing (2) has a card-receiving slot (24) and two sidewalls (21). Each of the sidewalls (21) has an inner side surface (211), an outer side surface (212), and a plurality of terminal-receiving slots (25) extending from the inner side surface (211) to the outer side surface (212). Each of the conductive terminals (3) has a fixed section (31) fixed within the corresponding terminal-receiving slot (25) and extending along a transverse direction (Y) of the dielectric housing (2), a resilient section (32) extending from one end of the fixed section (31), and a solder section (33) extending from the other end of the fixed section (31) and outwardly of the dielectric housing (2) the resilient section (32) has a contact portion (321) extending into the card-receiving slot (24).

    Abstract: A processor mounted to a circuit board is provided with regulated voltage through lower-inductance circuit board traces by mounting a voltage regulator module for the processor, on the side of the circuit opposite to the processor. Current from the voltage regulator is provided to the processor by way of one or more conductors between the regulator and processor that extend through the circuit board from one side to the other. Inductance attributable to lead length is reduced by locating the voltage regulator close to its load. Circuit board space on the processor side of the circuit board is increased by moving the voltage regulator to the opposite side.
