    Abstract: A selective call receiver (100) includes a controlled oscillator (134) that generates an output signal (140) from a received signa. The controlled oscillator (134) has an input filter (136) that is controlled by a control signal (132) generated from a reference signal (122). The output signal (140) and the reference signal (122), generated from the received signal, are used to adjust the output of the controlled oscillator (134) to equal the reference signal (122). The control signal (132) controls a controlled filter (142) that filters a second signal (144).

    Abstract: 2053294 9016133 PCTABS00003 A battery saver type paging receiver (fig. 2) includes an improved peak and valley amplitude detection type data limiter section (fig. 3) with mode control operational thereof, digital word storage (50, 52) of acquired peak and valley amplitude values, and self tuning capabilities (56). More specifically, the data limiter section includes a controller (56) for controlling the peak and valley detection circuits (32, 34) to acquire respective peak and valley amplitude values in digital word form in a first operational mode (132, fig. 5) and to hold the peak and valley amplitude digital words in corresponding storage registers in a second operational mode (134). The controller may transfer the data limiter section into a third operational mode (136) during which the peak and valley digital words may be altered a predetermined count to effect a self-tuning thereof. In one embodiment, the third mode of operation is effected during the transfer between the second and first modes of operation.
