Abstract: A method for identifying hazardous substances in a printed wiring assembly having a plurality of discrete components, using micro X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy. A micro X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (mu-XRF) and/or X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (XAFS) spectroscopy are used as detecting analyzers, to identify materials of concern in an electronic device. The device or assembly to be examined is analyzed by moving it in the X, Y, and Z directions under a probe in response to information in a reference database, to determine elemental composition at selected locations on the assembly, the probe positioned at an optimum analytical distance from each selected location for analysis. The determined elemental composition at each selected location is then correlated to the reference database, and the detected elements are assigned to the various components in the assembly.

Abstract: A wireless, programmable system for medical monitoring includes a base unit and a plurality of individual wireless, remotely programmable biosensor transceivers. The base unit manages the transceivers by issuing registration, configuration, data acquisition, and transmission commands using wireless techniques. Physiologic data from the wireless transceivers is demultiplexed and supplied via a standard interface to a conventional monitor for display. Initialization, configuration, registration, and management routines for the wireless transceivers and the base unit are also described.

Abstract: Un sistema de adquisición de señal de biopotencial inalámbrico, dinámicamente programable (10), incluyendo: a) una pluralidad de transceptores inalámbricos individuales, programables a distancia (20), cada uno de dichos transceptores (20) asociado con un electrodo parche (22) para uso en monitorización médica, y b) una unidad base (18) incluyendo un transceptor inalámbrico (54) para enviar y recibir mensajes a dicha pluralidad de transceptores inalámbricos individuales, programables a distancia (20), c) donde dicha unidad base (18) y dicha pluralidad de transceptores inalámbricos programables individuales (20) implementan un protocolo de programación inalámbrico por el que dichos mensajes son intercambiados entre dicha unidad base (18) y dicha pluralidad de transceptores inalámbricos individuales, programables a distancia (20), por lo que las propiedades de registro, configuración, control de adquisición de datos, y control de transmisión de datos de dicha pluralidad de transceptores inalámbricos individuales, programables a distancia (20) pueden ser gestionadas por dicha unidad base (18); caracterizado porque dicha unidad base (18) incluye además una interface (70) a equipo convencional de monitorización y visualización, y la unidad base (18) es operable para enviar datos en la interface (70) formateados como señales analógicas de entrada de electrodo de tal manera que dichas señales adquiridas puedan ser enviadas desde dicha unidad base (18) a dicho equipo convencional de monitorización y visualización para visualización.
