Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition which can non-selectively dye keratin fibers in a strong color exhibiting good durability against various damage factors without causing the large deterioration of the keratin fibers, by compounding a specific oxidizing base, a specified enzyme and a specific enzyme mediator. SOLUTION: This composition for oxidatively dyeing keratin fibers is prepared by dissolving (A) at least one oxidizing base selected from a para- phenylenediamine compound of formula I (R1, R2, R4 are each H, an alkyl, or the like; R3 is H, a halogen, or the like) (for example, para-phenylenediamine), a double base [for example, N,N'-bis(β-hydroxyethyl)-N,N'-bis(4'- aminophenyl)-1,3-diaminopropanol], a para-aminophenol compound of formula II (R5, R6 are each H, a halogen, or the like) (for example, para-aminophenol), and a heterocyclic base compound (for example, a pyridine derivative), (B) a four electron oxide reductase type enzyme (for example, laccase), and (C) an enzyme mediator (for example, hydroxylamine) capable of increasing the activity of the enzyme in a medium suitable for the dyeing.

SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by including (B) a cationic direct dye selected from a compound represented by formula I D is N or the like; R1 and R2 are each H or the like; R3 and R3' are each cyano or the like; X- is an anion such as a chloride; A is a structure represented by formula II [R4 is an (OH-substituted) 1-4C alkyl or the like] or the like, with the proviso that R1 and R2 are not simultaneously H when D is CH; A is formula II or the like; R3 is other than an alkoxy}, a compound represented by formula III [R6 is a 1-4C alkyl or the like; R7 is H or the like; R8 and R9 are each a halogen or the like such as F; B is a structure represented by formula IV (R10 is a 1-4C alkyl) or the like] or the like and (C) a thickening polymer selected from a nonionic amphiphilic polymer containing a unit having an aliphatic chain and a hydrophilic unit, an anionic amphiphilic polymer containing a unit having an aliphatic chain and a hydrophilic unit or the like in (A) a medium.
