Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a mobile terminal and base station and respective operation methods. The mobile terminal comprises circuitry, which in operation, determines a condition for requesting on-demand a transmission of other system information; performs a random access procedure; and receives via broadcast a system information message including the on-demand requested other system information. The system information request message of the random access procedure includes an information element with a bit-pattern conforming to a specific format with at least a part of the bit-pattern for requesting the other system information. And the contention resolution message of the random access procedure includes the same, or the same part of the bit-pattern for detecting collisions during the random access procedure.

The mobile terminal is for communicating in a mobile communication system with a base station using at least one of a plurality of downlink beams and at least one of a plurality of uplink beams, each of the downlink and uplink beams having different directivities and/or coverage, comprising: which, in operation, receives for a beam failure recovery, BFR, procedure an allocation of dedicated uplink radio resources for transmitting a beam failure recovery signal, a processor which, in operation, detects a downlink beam failure event and, in response thereto, initiates the beam failure recovery procedure, including the transceiver transmitting the beam failure recovery signal using the dedicated uplink radio resources from the allocation; wherein the dedicated uplink radio resources are restricting the transmission to a subset of the plurality of uplink beams that can be exclusively allocated by the base station to the mobile terminal.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a user equipment comprising a receiver receiving a minimum-system-information message from a first radio base station. System information for the first radio cell that can be acquired by the UE is carried within the minimum-SI message and one or more additional-SI messages. The minimum–SI message includes system information for accessing the first radio cell and at least one system information index, each of which is associated with one of the additional-SI messages. The SI message index comprises a value tag and an area pointer, the latter pointing to one area already defined. Processing circuitry determines whether the UE had already acquired before the additional-SI message associated with the same value tag and the same area. If the determination is positive, the processing circuitry determines that system information included in said additional-SI message acquired before is applicable to the first radio cell.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for transmitting data over a wireless channel from a data transmitting node to a data receiving node in a communication system. In particular, the data transmitting node comprises second-layer processing circuitry for receiving, from a third layer, at least one second-layer service data unit, SDU, to be mapped onto a resource allocated for data transmission, and for generating a second-layer protocol data unit, PDU, including said at least one second-layer SDU and at least one second-layer control element, the at least one second-layer control element placed after any of the at least one second-layer SDU, and first-layer processing circuitry for receiving the second-layer PDU generated by the second-layer processing circuitry and mapping the second-layer PDU onto the resource allocated for data transmission. The data receiving node comprises first-layer processing circuitry for de-mapping at least one second-layer protocol data unit, PDU, from a resource allocated for data reception, and a second layer processing circuitry for receiving and parsing the second-layer PDU de-mapped by the first-layer processing circuitry, the second-layer PDU including at least one second-layer service data unit, SDU, and at least one second-layer control element, the at least one second-layer control element following any of the at least one second-layer SDU.
