Abstract:
Methods and devices are described for optimizing display of information such as map data on a mobile device. Certain embodiments may include receiving, at a mobile device, a first and second set of placement data associated with a first and second object. The mobile device may then determine overlap between a representation of the first object and the second object in a rendering of an image comprising the representation of the first object and the second object, using a set of viewing parameters, the first set of placement data and the second set of placement data. The set of viewing parameters may be adjusted to reduce overlap between the representation of the first object and the second object in the rendering of the image. In additional embodiments, 3D enhancements to two-dimensional map objects may be added to enhance the presentation of the information.
Abstract:
Example methods, apparatuses, or articles of manufacture are disclosed herein that may be utilized, in whole or in part, to facilitate or support one or more operations or techniques for a relatively faster time-to-first-fix, such as for use in or with a mobile communication device. Briefly, in accordance with at least one implementation, a method may include transmitting a first message to a mobile device, the first message comprising abbreviated positioning assistance data; receiving a second message from the mobile device, the second message comprising an indication of a coarse location of the mobile device; and transmitting a third message to the mobile device, the third message comprising a detailed tiled radio heat map obtained based, at least in part, on the received indication of the coarse location of the mobile device.
Abstract:
The subject matter disclosed herein relates to a method, apparatus, and/or system for obtaining one or more images captured at a mobile device and determining a location context identifier (LCI) identifying an area including a location of the mobile device based, at least in part, on the one or more captured images. The LCI may be selected from among a plurality of LCIs.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses, and devices for generating maps on a display of, for example, a mobile device, are presented. In one example, a server, such as a map server, may organize a data structure corresponding to a map based, at least in part, on a received query, estimated location, and/or a current route of a mobile device user. Points of interest (POIs) that may be more relevant to a mobile device user may be transmitted from a map server, for example, prior to POIs that may be less relevant. In one example, a plurality of POIs may be rendered on a display of a mobile device. One or more POIs may be emphasized on the display based on one or more criteria.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for broadcasting short interframe space information to aid in determining a round trip time are provided. The round trip time is used as an aid in locating nodes within a WiFi or WLAN network. The method begins with capturing a time of transmission of a frame by a transmitting station. The receiving station then captures the time of arrival of the frame just sent by the transmitting station. The receiving station replies with a received frame message and the time of departure is captured. The transmitting station then captures the time of arrival of the received frame message. The captured arrival and departure times of the frame and the received frame message allow the round trip time to be computed. The RTT may then be included as part of a network message.
Abstract:
Disclosed are apparatuses and methods for enabling the use of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signals indoors. The method may include determining a first indoor position of the mobile device based on indoor transceiver signals. The method may also include determining, based at least in part on the determined first indoor position, that global navigation satellite system (GNSS) positioning signals are available. The method may also include determining a second indoor position of the mobile device based, at least in part, on GNSS positioning signals.
Abstract:
Techniques are provided which may be implemented using various methods, apparatuses and/or articles of manufacture to provide or otherwise support mobile device positioning. The mobile device positioning may be based, at least in part, on one or more perceived routability constraints that may or may not affect actual movement of a mobile device within an indoor environment.
Abstract:
Various techniques for locating an item are presented. A first location history may be received that is indicative of a first plurality of locations visited by a first mobile device. A first indication of a type of item being located by a user of the first mobile device may also be received. A second location history indicative of a second plurality of locations visited by a second mobile device may be received. A second indication of the type of item being located by a user of the second mobile device may also be received. A location of the type of item may be determined based on the first location history, the second location history and optionally the first and second indications. The determined location of the type of item may be subsequently provided to a mobile device to assist a user of the mobile device to locate the type of item. Provision of location history information and receipt of information to locate an item may occur in combination on a mobile device.
Abstract:
Certain embodiments relate to systems and methods for generating a single group image from multiple captured images. A first image and a second image may be captured, the first image including a first part of a group and the second image including a second part of the group. A user interface may be provided, in some embodiments, for capture of the second image that enables a photographer to provide input regarding the relative positioning of the first and second image as well as providing input on the relative positioning of the first and second parts of the group and the image scene background. In some embodiments, a lowest energy seam line may be determined for an overlapping portion of the first and second images, and the lowest energy seam line may be used for generating a final stitched image including both the first and second parts of the group.
Abstract:
Disclosed are systems, apparatus, devices, methods, computer program products, and other implementations, including a method that includes determining at a mobile device whether verbal input from a user is required to determine position of location of the user. The method also includes, in response to a determination that the verbal input from the user is required to determine the position of the location of the user, obtaining at the mobile device verbal description data representative of one or more geographic features viewable by the user from the location of the user, identifying at the mobile device the one or more of the geographic features from the obtained verbal description data, and determining, at the mobile device, positioning information for the location of the user based, at least in part, on the one or more geographic features identified from the verbal description data.
