Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve an SN ratio and to eliminate the influence of a dark current generated in a photodetector and a temperature drift generated by an amplifier by switching optical paths by using a chopper composed of a total reflecting mirror. CONSTITUTION:The chopper 14 arranged on the projection optical path C from the exit slit 12 of a spectroscope 2 is constituted by arranging a semicircular total reflecting mirror at 45 deg. to the light projection optical path C. Then, this chopper 14 is rotated at a high speed to switch the optical path to passing light and reflected light alternately while the projection light from the spectrometer 2 is chopped. Consequently, the spectra of two degrees of primary diffracted light and secondary diffracted light within a diffracted light wavelength range are measured at the same time by making a wavelength scan once.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To extend the wavelength selectable range of an optical signal transmitted in the wavelength division multiplexing state by reflecting or transmitting the light by a short pass filter if the wavelength is shorter than a certain value and transmitting or reflecting the light by a long pass filter if the wavelength is longer than the certain value. CONSTITUTION:Both side walls of an enveloping case 12 constituting an optical multiplexer/demultiplexer 1 are pierced by optical fibers 8a and 8c, and a light source 16 and a photodetector 20 are brought into contact with the outside end of the fiber 8c. The ceiling of the case 12 is pierced by an optical fiber 8b, and a light source 14 and a photodetector 18 are brought into contact with the outside end of the fiber 8b, and lenses 10a and 10c and an interference film filter 2 placed between these lenses which makes rays parallel are inserted between fibers 8a and 8c. A short pass filter 4 and a lens 10b are interposed between the filter 2 and the fiber 8b, and the rays of light different in wavelength are made incident from light sources 14 and 16 if the multiplexer/ demultiplexer 1 is used as an optical multiplexer, and the rays of light are allowed to pass filters 4 and 6 and are detected by photodetectors 18 and 20 if the multiplexer/demultiplexer 1 is used as an optical demultiplexer.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To permit the easy operation for finishing the end face of multiwavelength photometric fibers and to decrease aberration and optical loss by disposing the optical fibers in such a position where the end faces thereof are made flush with the spectral image plane of a spectroscope and are perpendicular and parallel to and with the same plane. CONSTITUTION:One end of a transparent dielectric block 1 is made of a concave reflection mirror 2 and the middle stage part 3 of the end face opposite thereto is made of a plane diffraction grating 4 inclined with the normal of the mirror 2. The upper and lower parts 5 thereof are formed to the plane perpendicular to the normal of the reflection mirror. The end faces of blocks 6, 7 holding the optical fibers F6, F7 are adhered perpendicularly to the end face 5. Light of several kinds of wavelengths is passed through the fiber F6 and is made incident on the inside of the block 1. The fibers 7 take out the light of the respective wavelengths. The light traces the opposite route thereof as the multiplexer. Since the optical fibers corresponding to the plural wavelengths are made approximately parallel on one plane, the finishing of the fiber end faces is easy and the multiplexer and demultiplexer having the decreased aberration and optical loss is obtd.
