    Abstract: PURPOSE:To shorten recharging time of a battery by actuating a contact connected with a power supply based on a signal, to be produced upon turn ON of the power supply, having duration proportional to and shorter than the OFF interval of the power supply thereby charging the battery. CONSTITUTION:Upon turn OFF of a power supply, a gate 7 closes and the output from an oscillation circuit 4 is subjected to 1/100 frequency division through a frequency dividing circuit 5 and fed to the adding terminal of an up/down counter 3. Upon turn ON of the power supply, a gate 6 closes to feed the output from the oscillation circuit 4 to the down count terminal of the up/down counter 3 thus causing abrupt decrement of count. Since 0 appears at the output terminal OUT during decrement operation, a relay 9 functions to close a contact 10 thus charging an Ni-Cd battery 1 quickly through a resistor R1. When the count in the up/down counter 3 goes 0 subsequently, 1 appears at the output terminal OUT and the relay 9 is released to open the contact 10.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the abnormal rise of a voltage output even if a rotary changeover switch is opened due to the defective contact of the switch by providing a means which detects the open state of the changeover switch and a means which controls the output voltage with the output of the detection means. CONSTITUTION:A means VD is provided to detect the open stage of a rotary changeover switch SW together with a means SW 2 which controls the output voltage with the output of the means VD. In other words, a variable resistance VR is put into a part of a serial circuit of fixed resistances R via the switch SW and at the same time the variable resistance is controlled. Thus it is possible to obtain an output that can be finely controlled at the position of the switch SW. If the open state of the SW is caused due to a defective contact, etc., at the time of switching the SW, the open stage is detected by the means VD and the SW 2 is turned on. Thus the voltage of an output terminal is limited down to a level lower than a level set before the terminal is switched. Thus it is possible to surely control the output voltage down to a level set before switching when the SW is switched.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the intensity of fluorescent X-rays by providing a small window which plays the role of a slit and a window material consisting of a polyester film in a detector. CONSTITUTION:The fluorescent X-rays are emitted from a sample 1 when the sample 1 is irradiated with the continuous X-rays (white X-rays) generated by an X-ray tube. This fluorescent X-rays pass a 1st slit 2 and are introduced to a spectroscopic crystal 3 and after a wavelength is selected, the X-rays are introduced to a detector (FPC). The crystal 3 and the FPC 5 have a relation of double angles (theta, 2theta) and only the X-rays satisfying the Bragg angle are effectively diffracted and arrive at the FPC 5, by which the X-rays are converted to electric signals. The electric signals are counted by a scaler or rate meter. Al 8 is deposited by evaporation on the polyester 9 to be used as the window material of the FPC 5 to prevent the electrification by the fluorescent X-rays. The resolving power of the X-rays is determined by the slit 2 and the window of the FPC 5 and, therefore, an Ni mesh is omitted by decreasing the window width of the FPC 5 to about 1mm. The resulted X-ray intensity is thus improved.
