PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable desired color reproduction by skillfully utilizing a standard color space whose color gamut is extended. SOLUTION: As information for reproducing the color and gradation information of image data encoded by the standard color space, an image file read portion 51 reads a file of the image data attached with state information by the use of specific codes, representing a state into which representation of the colors and gradations of the image data is adjusted. A judgement portion 52 selects image data of a suitable image block, based on header information in a file header block, and moreover selects a suitable correction processing. A correction processing portion 53 applies the correction processing to the image data, and its result is temporarily held in a memory (RAM). A monitor display portion 55 performs processing for displaying the image data of the correction result. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique adjusting white balance more accurately. SOLUTION: A lightness detection section 19 detects a luminance value Y from R, G, B signals outputted from a white balance adjustment amplifier 17 as lightness. An exposure amount setting section 20 generates a control signal d for controlling a diameter D of an opening 12A of an iris 12 on the basis of the luminance value Y, and applies the control signal d to a drive section 21. A white balance correction amount setting section 22 generates a correction gain kg(d) on the basis of the control signal d for controlling the diameter of the iris. A white balance amplifier gain setting section 23 corrects the R, G, B signals outputted from an AGC amplifier 16 on the basis of the correction gain kg(d) to adjust the gain of the white balance adjustment amplifier 17. An amplifier 17G of the G signal is controlled by the correction gain itself. The above technique can be applied to digital video cameras, digital still cameras, and other image pickup devices. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor for automatically generating an image with natural white balance the colors of which are close to those viewed by a viewer in a photographing scene. SOLUTION: An amplifier gain setting section 161 estimates a light source parameter depending on the spectrum distribution of a photographing light source on the basis of an image signal. A tracking sensitivity setting section 162 modulates a first adjustment control variable of each color signal in the case of adjustment to take the white balance on the basis of the estimated light source parameter in a direction of a second adjustment control variable of each color signal in the case of adjustment such that an object in an achromatic color under a particular reference light source is reproduced in the achromatic color by an amount in response to tracking sensitivity and sets the adjustment control variable to WB amplifiers 14. The tracking sensitivity setting section 162 sets the tracking sensitivity to the amplifier gain setting section 161 in response to an illuminance level estimated from a detected value of lightness or the like. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for estimating a light source by which the chromatic characteristic of an unknown light source of a photographed scene can be estimated from a sensor response, an image pickup device, and an image processing method for improving the color reproduction quality of white balance adjustment etc. SOLUTION: In the method for estimating a light source, a projection converting section 6 using a parameter obtained from the spectral sensitivity characteristic of an already known image pickup means 4 and the spectral characteristic of a supposed test light source 1 through colorimetrically approximation-possible calculation estimates the correct photographing light source 2 with respect to a sensor response value 5, by projecting a scene upon an image distribution 9 in an evaluation space not relying upon the light source 2, and evaluating rightfulnesses of a plurality of test light sources 1 based on the distributed state of sample value of the projected scene by means of an evaluating section 10. SOLUTION: In the case of coding received image data YCbCr into print image data, a YCC image generating section 2 applies nonlinear conversion processing by a nonlinear function f (c) on chrominance components Cb, Cr, without applying to a luminance Y to generate printing image data YCb'Cr', a cmyk conversion section 3 applies nonlinear conversion processing by an inverse function f' (c) of the nonlinear function f (c) to the print image data YCb'Cr' generated by the YCC image-generating section 2 to apply color space conversion processing, corresponding to a color space of an output device, thereby converting the YCC image generating section 2 into printout image data cmyk.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to execute printing with an unknown printer device when proceeding a video game in accordance with a game software program stored in a video game program recording medium and converting content to be printed into print data for printing. SOLUTION: It is judged whether a printer device connected is an unknown model or not by an information reading module (Step S11), and when the printer device connected is found as an unknown model not assumed by a printer driver, information on print parameters is obtained from the printer device connected, and parameters of a special engine module are changed in accordance with acquired information (Step S12), and printing is executed (Step S13 to S17).

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To renew a printer driver stored in a nonvolatile memory and execute printing by a latest printer driver when processing a video game in accordance with a game software program read out from a video game program recording medium, and converting content to be printed into print data for printing. SOLUTION: When a printer driver is read out from a video game program recording medium (Step S11), the version of the printer driver read out is confirmed (Step S12), and when the printer driver is a new version, a printer driver in a memory card is renewed (Step S13).
