Abstract: A color ink ribbon positioning system for use with color printing apparatus that uses a color ink ribbon having a plurality of different colored ink regions formed at predetermined intervals on a ribbon base, in which only a single ink region marker block is provided for each set of colored ink regions, includes a detector for detaching the ink region marker block and a calculating unit for determining the leading edge of each color ink region that is to be successively arranged next to the printer head, so that is it only necessary to detect the single marker block in order to advance the ribbon to print the successive colors of a set.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the number of drive sources to a minimum possible to be required to contrive a lower production cost and save a power demand, by using a drive force for a drive force change-over mechanism also as the drive force of a first drive source in combination. CONSTITUTION:By changing over a drive force change-over mechanism 130 which is driven by a DC motor 104 as a first drive source, either a platen 14 or a paper feed roller 10 rotates or revolves by the drive of a stepping motor 92 as a second drive source, and a paper discharge roller 12 is driven invariably by the drive of the stepping motor 92. On the other hand, by the drive of the DC motor 104 the following actions are conducted: the up/down of a paper supply lever 21; the rising and retracting of a paper-discharge push claw 38; the reciprocating movement of a head travel mechanism 66; the ON/OFF of a brake arm 182 braking a limiter gear on a supply reel mount; the rotation of an eject stopper 192; and the aforesaid change-over of the paper feed roller 10 and the platen 14. In this manner, since one motor is used for a large number of kinds of drive, the number of motors can be reduced so as to lower a cost and save a power demand to a large extent.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform clear printing and secure supply of printing papers to a printing part by one sheet at a time to the last sheet, by covering the printing side of the lowermost one of the printing sheet with a sheet having substantially the same shape as that of the printing paper and provided with data indicative of inhibition of paper supply. CONSTITUTION:The printing side 5a of the lowermost one 5 of a plurality of printing papers 5 stacked is covered with a sheet 23, so that the printing side 5a of the lowermost printing paper 5 is not stained with fingerprints or the like when the stack of the papers is placed into a paper-supplying tray 14, and clear printing can be performed. The lowermost printing paper 5 is not supplied together with the second lowest printing paper 5. The printing papers 5 placed on a bottom plate 15 of the tray 14 can be fed securely and smoothly to a printing part 4 by one sheet at a time to the last one, by pressing the papers 5 against a paper-supplying roller 6 with a constantly fixed pressure by a turning of a paper-supplying lever 16 and an energizing force of a torsion spring 19.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To securely prevent bad effects from being exerted on printing at the time of supplying a paper, by linking to a moving means a canceling means for moving the moving means in the direction for canceling the pressing of a printing paper and a paper-supplying roller against each other when the trailing end of the paper is passed through the paper-supplying roller. CONSTITUTION:When the leading end of a printing paper 8 supplied to a printing part 7 by a paper-supplying tray 17 reaches a position between a platen 14 and a pinch roller 58, a paper-supplying lever 21 is slightly turned downward by an operating plate 121 or the like. Since a pressed condition of the paper 8 is canceled by a paper-supplying roller 10 and a bottom plate 18 of the tray 17, needless load variations are not generated on the side of a printing part or the like when the trailing end of the paper 8 comes off the roller 10 at the time of printing, so that no vertical streaks are formed on the printing side of the paper 8. Since the paper 8 and the roller 10 are pressed against each other only in a paper-supplying condition, the roller 10 and a support shaft 11 therefor can be prevented from being deformed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To use transfer paper without wastefulness by using the taking-out spool for a mounted transfer paper/recording paper cartridge as a supply spool and providing a lock means preventing the rotation of the spool during the transfer of the spool to a spool transfer means. CONSTITUTION:During the transfer of a supply spool 5 toward a loading completing position, the rotation of the supply spool 5 is prevented. That is, when an ink ribbon/printing paper cartridge 2 is moved to a mounting position, the pawl 50b of a lock lever 50 is meshed with the gear part 13 of the supply spool 5 to prevent the rotation of the supply spool 5 and the supply spool 5 is taken out of a cartridge case 7 as it is. When chuck arms 48, 48 come to the position immediately before the loading completing position, the position near to the other end part 50c of the lock lever 50 comes into contact with a stopper pin 102 to be relatively pressed and the lock lever 50 is revolved in a slight counterclockwise direction to separate the pawl 50b from the gear part 13 of the supply spool 5.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a ribbon cartridge from slipping off unexpectedly during printing, by connecting an operating button to an inhibiting means for inhibiting the operation of the button during printing by a printing head is conducted by a drive source for driving a head-moving mechanism. CONSTITUTION:When a ribbon cartridge 140 is contained in a ribbon cartridge- containing part 16, a fastening pawl 186 of a lock mechanism 185 is fastened into a fastening hole 145 bored in the cartridge 140, resulting in locking. Before printing, a notched part 192a of an ejection stopper 192 fixed to a head-driving shaft 74 is located at the tip 190c of an ejection arm 190. Therefore, with an ejection button 191 pressed, the tip 190c enters the notched part 192a to release the fastening hole 145 from the locking by the fastening pawl 186, thereby enabling the cartridge 140 to be taken out. During printing, on the other hand, the notched part 192a is located at the tip 190c of the ejection arm 190, so that the locked condition is not canceled even when the button 191 is pressed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance the accuracy of a printing pitch in each line and simplify the construction of a motor-driving circuit by detecting a rotating angle of a platen, and driving a head on the basis of the detection output. CONSTITUTION:With a DC motor 5 rotated, a body to be detected 7 is rotated, and a photo-sensor 9 outputs pulses to a frequency divider 15. The frequency divider 15 outputs a pulse to a controller 16 each time the number of the pulses inputted to the frequency divider 15 reaches n. Each time the pulse is inputted from the frequency divider 15 to the controller 16, the controller 16 reads a one-line amount of image data from an image memory 17, and outputs the data to a head-driving circuit 18, whereby a head 1 is caused to print in a line-by-line manner. When a printed density is different and a load resistance on the motor 5 is different, the rotating speed of the motor 5 is varied. According to the variation in the rotating speed, the number of pulses outputted from the sensor 9 per unit time is varied. However, printing for one line is not performed until the motor 5 is rotated by a predetermined rotating angle. Therefore, a printing pitch in each line is constantly fixed, and ununiformity of printed density is lessened.

CONSTITUTION:A part of the printed paper 8, fed out to the high bottom part 35 of a delivery tray receiver 6 by a delivery roller, on one side edge side thereof is accurately positioned between a guide piece 37a and the second bottom part 35c to be set on the protruding piece part 35f of the second bottom part 35c. Therefore, the printed paper 8 is certainly pushed out to the delivery tray 45 received in a low bottom part 36 by a pair of the paper push-out parts 38a, 38a of a delivery push-out pawl 38 and can be easily taken out from the front surface of a printer 1 without drawing out the delivery tray 45 from the delivery tray receiver 6.
