Abstract: A sound reproducing apparatus includes a device for producing an output signal proportional to the rotary angle of a rotary shaft which rotates in association with the pickup arm of a phonograph apparatus, and includes a motor speed control circuit for driving a turntable in response to the output signal and a reference signal which is determined from monitoring the position of the sound track on a disc record. The postion detecting device is able to detect the amount of eccentricity of the disc record or the spindle of the turntable and the invention improves the wow characteristics of phonograph apparatus caused by eccentricity.

Abstract: A stop control circuit for a DC motor causes the motor to stop precisely by purely electrical action. A DC motor is provided with a bidirectional driving circuit, a servo circuit for controlling the driving circuit, and a rotation detector associated with the motor shaft to provide a phase signal that depends, in magnitude and polarity, on the particular rotational angle of the shaft, regardless whether the motor is turning. A stop control circuit then includes an amplifier whose output varies according to the phase signal, and a switch that normally provides the servo signal to the driving circuit, but, upon command, switches over to provide thereto the output of the amplifier as a brake signal. Alternatively the rotation detector can include two sensor elements separated by pi /2, and the stop control circuit can include an inverting amplifier, a non-inverting amplifier coupled to one of the sensor elements, and a switch circuit with inputs coupled respectively to these amplifiers. A comparator provides a switch signal to the switch circuit in dependence on the phase signal from the other sensor element. In another embodiment, a differential amplifier provides a brake signal in dependence upon both the phase signals from the two sensor elements.

Abstract: Two DC motors are driven by switching pulse drive circuits, and the switching on times of drive pulses are made to be out of phase with each other at the two switching pulse drive circuits. One of the two DC motors rotates rotary video heads, and the other drives a capstan of a video tape recording and/or reproducing apparatus. The drive pulses are preferably synchronized with horizontal synchronizing pulses of a video signal to be handled by the video tape recording and/or reproducing apparatus in order to avoid pulse noises.

Abstract: 1500149 Control of AC motors SONY CORP 14 April 1975 [16 April 1974] 15242/75 Heading H2J A load 14, such as an AC motor, is controlled by a bidirectional, low emitter concentration (LEC), transistor 13 of the type described and claimed in Specifications 1,455,260 and 1,460,037, the impedance of the transistor being varied to vary the amplitude of current from an A.C. source 15 in accordance with a variable current source 12, which controls the base-emitter current of transistor 13 and consists of conventional transistors 18, 21, resistors 17, 19, 20 and a variable voltage source 22. Typical examples of the transistor 13 are described, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown) and its operation is compared with that of a conventional variable impedance transistor, Fig. 4 (not shown), it being explained how the symmetrical impedance of transistor 13, for the alternate polarities of the source 15, provides a symmetrical sine wave load current in contrast to the asymmetrical current produced by the conventional transistor. Other advantages of transistor 13 are a high uniform gain, an improved overload resistance and a reduction of motor noise compared with the known control using a diode bridge with unidirectional current through a transistor. For higher voltates of source 15, the transistor 13 is replaced by two similar LEC transistors (24, 25) connected in series and having their bases connected to the source 12 through a potentiometer (23) adjustable to balance the transistor base currents, Fig. 5 (not shown).

Abstract: Insert and assemble editing of video signals are carried out using a VTR having helically scanning rotary record/playback heads. Following the recording of a first video signal in slant tracks on the tape, the tape is stopped at an edit point where recording of a second video signal is to commence. Then the tape is run reversely while control signals associated with the locations of the tracks are reproduced. These control signals are counted and the tape is stopped when a predetermined number of such signals have been counted. Thereafter the tape is advanced to a noiseless-still-picture position, based on a counted number of oscillations associated with rotation of the tape capstan, at which an acceptably noise-free picture is obtained, notwithstanding that the head scan of the rotary heads does not completely coincide with the slant tracks when the tape is stopped. After this, the tape is run at normal speed, and when the tape reaches the edit point, the VTR begins to record the second signal, which is at that time in step with the previously-recorded first video signal.
