Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the transmission rate of data to be recorded, to increase the quantity of recorded data and to attain high picture quality by dividing a video signal of one and same channel onto plural track areas and recording them. CONSTITUTION:The recorder is provided with a conversion means 3 converting an inputted video signal into a data and with a data split means 6 sending the data outputted from the conversion means 3 into plural heads H1, H2.... Then the video signal of the same channel are recorded while being into plural tack areas E1, E2.... Thus, in case of the high picture quality mode, for example, the conversion means 3 converts the video signal into more data than that in the normal mode and the data is shared to send plural sets of the heads H1, H2... by the split means 6 and recorded separately onto plural track areas E1, E2... of a tape. Thus, the data transmission rate is increased in the high picture quality mode than that in the normal mode, and more data are recorded to attain high picture quality.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To simultaneously record the wide band signals of an (n) channel by providing n-number of magnetic heads in a rotary drum in a step mostly 1/n of a magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:N-number [(n) is an integer >=2] of magnetic heads 11A, 11B, 21A and 21B are provided in the rotary drum with a step (d) being mostly 1/n of the width W of the magnetic tape T, and the wide band signals of the (n) channel are simultaneously supplied to n-number of magnetic heads 11A, 11B, 21A and 21B. Namely, they are the couples of the magnetic heads 11A, 11B, 21A and 21B, for example, and they are loaded on the rotary drum 1 with respective angle intervals alpha and in the step (d) in a figure 2. Since two couples of rotary heads are used here, alpha=90 deg. is set and the step (d) is set to less than 1/2 the width Wt of the magnetic tape T. Thus, a magnetic recording device which can simultaneously record plural wide band signals can be obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently use a video tape recorder by recording separate information in one step while reproducing the information previously recorded on the other step of the track of a tape. CONSTITUTION:While reproducing certain information previously recorded in the upper step of the tape 1, a different information is recorded on the lower step of the tape 1. Namely, a recording circuit A1 and rotary heads 3A, 3B are used to record the certain information in the upper step of the tape 1. Then, a reproducing circuit A2 and the rotary heads 3A, 3B are used to reproduce the certain information previously recorded from the upper step of the tape 1, simultaneously using a recording circuit B1 and rotary heads 2A, 2B and record a different information on the lower step of the tape 1. For instance, the performance of an instructor of a sport or the like is previously recorded on the upper step of the tape 1, the performance of a student is photographed by a camera while viewing a reproduced screen and simultaneously recorded on the lower step of the tape 1. Thereby, the difference in the performance between the instructor and the student can be clearly viewed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To instantaneously execute the inversion of going/returning at the tape end by dividing a track of a tape into at least two upper and lower stages and changing the tape running direction at the time of executing the recording to the respective stages. CONSTITUTION:A track of a tape 1 is divided into at least two upper and lower stages, and in accordance therewith, two pairs of rotary heads 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B having a prescribed step difference are provided. In this state, in a pair of rotary heads 2A, 2B, for instance, when the tape end has come in the course of recording of the track of the lower stage, the tape running direction is switched, and next, the track of the upper stage is recorded by the other pair of rotary heads 3A, 3B. In such a way, by only reversing the tape running direction substantially, going/returning can be switched instantaneously.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To differentially perform the movement of a head drum in the axial direction thereof by moving the head drum in the axial direction by utilizing the difference in the angular velocities of 1st and 2nd motors by providing two motors. CONSTITUTION:The 2nd motor 6 is provided at the lower side of the 1st motor 16 to support a sleeve 22. The output shaft of the motor 26 is composed of a feed screw 14 and the upper end part of the screw 14 is supported via a ball bearing 28 on a chassis 27. A sleeve 29 is provided in series so as to project at the lower part of the chassis 27, a spline 30 is formed on the outer peripheral face of the sleeve and the casing of a rotary transformer 31 is supported movably in the axial direction. A magnetic tape is wound on the outer peripheral face of the drum 10 by a pair of tape guides, the drum 10 is driven with its rotation by the 1st motor 16, the 2nd motor 26 is rotated as well and the drum 10 is moved in the axial direction by utilizing the difference in the revolutions of the two motors 16, 26.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of the moving mechanism of a head rum by providing a cam whose displacement varies linearly and reciprocating the head rum in an axial direction by this cam. CONSTITUTION:The reciprocating motion in the upper and lower direction of a rotary head drum 10 is synchronized with the rotary movement of the drum 10, the timing performing an electrification to a magnetic head 12 is postponed according to the vertical movement of the drum 10 and a track is thus formed on the surface of a magnetic tape. When the movement is performed up to the upper end part of a magnetic tape by recording along a track down or up by the magnetic head 12, the displacement of a cam 31 is reversed and a track is recorded to the upper or lower part his time. And when coming to the lower end, the displacement of the cam 31 is again reversed. When a motor 29 is rotated in a fixed direction at a constant speed, the drum 10 and a stationary drum 13 perform a reciprocating motion in the axial direction at a constant speed and the reciprocating motion can be achieved without reversing the motor 29. No wear, etc., are caused because the displacement of the cam 31 is received with a roller contact by a cam follower 32.

Therefore, the synthesized video signal is recorded in an another VTR, so that the superimposed picture can be prepared.

All of heads 6 are held in the same phase relation as that of the groove by deciding the number of grooves so as to become the multiples of 4, such as N=4, 8, 12..., in the case of the head 6 being fitted in four pieces at the interval of 90 deg., for example. Thus a head abutment, etc., can be made optimum.
