POLYBUTYLENE Terephthalate Reaction of terephthalic acid and butane diol using a tetravalent tin catalyst having one organo-to-tin linkage. This invention relates to the production of polybutylene terephthalate by reacting terephthalic acid and 1,4butylene glycol in the presence of tetravalent tin catalyst having one organo-to-tin linkage.

1377433 Thiadiazole derivatives STANDARD OIL CO 14 Feb 1972 6818/72 Heading C2C [Also in Divisions C3 and C5] Novel 2 - hydrocarbyldithio - 5 - mercaptothiadiazoles of formula where R 1 is C 1-280 hydrocarbyl are prepared by the oxidative coupling of R 1 SH and 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole or an alkali metal salt thereof, the mole ratio of mercaptan to thiadiazole being not greater than 1À1 : 1À0. Suitable oxidizing agents include H 2 O 2 , air and hypohalites. The products are used as sulphur scavengers in oils and fuels.
