Abstract: A device for receiving and releasing liquid samples comprises a pump consisting of a cylinder chamber (3), a plunger (4) and a plunger drive (5); an impulse generator (6); a tip (8) connected via a line (7) to the cylinder chamber; and a channel (27) for rinsing the chamber. The chamber opens out into the cylinder chamber. An Independent claim is also included for a system for receiving and releasing liquid samples comprising several of the above devices. Preferred Features: The chamber formed by the cylinder chamber, plunger, line and tip is filled with a liquid column with or without an air gap. The volume of a liquid sample released is defined by the parameters of a single impulse produced by the impulse generator. The cylinder chamber has a capacity of 5-200 micro-liters.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a device (1) for aspirating and dispensing liquid samples having a pump (2), which comprises a cylindrical chamber (3), a pist on (4) movable in this cylindrical chamber, and a piston drive (5) engaging on the piston. The device additionally comprises a pulse generator (6), which -- to ef- fect the dispensing of samples from a liquid -- is implemented for generatin g pressure waves in this liquid and a tip (8) connected via a line (7) with th e cylin- drical chamber (3), with the piston drive (5) comprising a first drive (9) a nd a second drive (10), implemented as a pulse generator (6). Such a device is ch ar- acterized in that it comprises a channel (27) for rinsing or flushing the cylindrical chamber (3), with the channel (27) discharging into the cylindrical chamber (3). Furthermore, the invention also concerns systems with, for example, 384 or more such devices which are arranged in an array.
