Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent blocking a liquid junction of an outer tube as a function of a single or a double junction type comparing electrode is maintained, by mounting an ion selective hardening material at an outer tube so that it makes contact with inner liquids at the inside and the outside of the outer tube. CONSTITUTION:A comparing electrode generates a steady potential by the aid of an inner electrode 3 and inner liquids 8 and 10, and is electrically connected to a sample liquid with the inner liquids 8 and 10. The inner liquids 8 and 10 at the inside and the outside of an outer tube 1 are electrically connected through an ion selecting hardening material 13 which consists of 5-50 pts.wt. epoxy resin, 5-25 pts.wt. dibenzol sorbitol or a derivative thereof, and remaining pts.wt. exchange liquid, and in which gel by the dibenzol sorbitol of the ion excange liquid or the derivative thereof is evenly dispersed and held in an epoxy resin hardening material.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a pH measuring electrode which uses iridium oxide as a pH sensitive film, is constructed small and sturdily, easy to manufacture, presents easiness in working, excels in the resistance against chemicals, has a wide pH range measurable, and which can measure not only liquid but also the surface or inside of a solid matter and also can make measurement stably for a long period of time. CONSTITUTION: The pH measuring electrode 1 includes an insulative supporting member 42 in a thin and long shape and a pH sensitive part 2 fixed to one end of the supporting member 42 in contact with an object to be measured while exposing only its end plane part substantially to the outside. The part 2 has a rod 28 of insulative ceramic whose one end 28a is shaped in to a plane, and the surface of the rod 28 is subjected to a specular finish so that at least the surface roughness is Rmax 0.02 and Ra 0.002, and thereover, an iridium oxide film 22 is formed whose iridium-oxygen proportion ranges 1:2.5 to 1:3.5, and further a porous insulative film 23 is formed covering at least a part of the peripheral circumferential surface and the end plane where the iridium oxide film 22, is provided.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure ion activity on the surface of an object to be measured and the inside thereof by means of one composite electrode for measuring ion active amount. CONSTITUTION:A needle-like ion activity sensing electrode 1 that is provided with an ion active sensing membrane on its tip surface is fixed on a metallic tubular body 5 with an insulation tubular body 4 interposed. The body 5 is arranged inside an inner tubular body 11 of an insulation cover 10 with double- ply construction where the inner tubular body 11 and outer tubular body 12 are provided and a groove 14 is formed in an axial direction as to penetrate the side face, in such a way that the body 5 will be able to slide in an axial direction, being closely contact with the inner surface of the body 11. On the other hand, a liquid junction pad 16 of comparing electrode is fitted in a doughnut-like front end opening between the body 11 of the cover 10 and the body 12, and an inner electrolyte 17 and an inner electrode 18 of the comparing electrode are arranged in an inner space. Further, the sliding position is set in such a way that the surface of the junction 16 will be on the same plane of the surface of the electrode 1 when the electrode is drawn back to the utmost.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To stabilize an electrode potential of a pH electrode using metal or metal oxide for pH-sensitive film easily in a short time, and facilitate calibra tion operation. CONSTITUTION:After completion of measurement, pH electrode 30 and a comparison electrode 10 are contained in an adaptor 1 attached to a device main body, and electrodes 30, 10 are immersed in solution 15 of pH6.86, which is similar to that of inner liquid 13 of the comparison electrode 10, injected inside it. Electrode plugs of the electrodes 30, 10 are connected to a pH terminal 2 and a comparison terminal 3, and a switch 4 is put on, so the pH electrode 30 and the comparison electrode 10 are shortcircuitted. An electrode potential of the pH electrode 30 is thus returned to its original condition soon to be stabilized. In the meanwhile, the pH terminal of the device main body is shortcircuitted with the comparison terminal, and a gauge pointing value is set at pH6.86. Calibration for one point can thus be performed electrically, thereby need of complicated calibration operation can be eliminated.

CONSTITUTION:A single separation column is used, and respective cations are separated using a liq. eluent contg. a metal ion and an org. acid forming a complex with the metal ion. Consequently, all the cations can be separated by the ordinary ion chromatography with a single separation column and a single liq. eluent, and the monovalent and bivalent cation concns. are simultaneously measured with high sensitivity. In addition, the metal ion should be trivalent aluminum ion, and citric acid or tartaric acid is preferably used as the org. acid.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an electrode which has an improved chemical resistance with a small amount and enables a stable measurement to be made by providing an insulation support and a iridium oxide sensitive film which is formed on the support and by specifying a ratio of oxygen for the sensitive iridium. CONSTITUTION:An iridium oxide sensitive film 2 is provided on a surface of an insulation support 1 and a lead wire 3 is taken out of one edge of the sensitive film 2. The lead wire 3 as well as the sensitive film 2 at one edge side and one portion of the support 1 are covered with a support pipe 4 consisting of plastic such as polyvinyl chloride and are fixed, thus forming an electrode for measuring pH. The sensitive film 2 is iridium oxide with a ratio of oxygen to iridium being 2.5-3.5. By using this iridium oxide sensitive film 2, an improved linear response within a range of pH 0-14 can be obtained and further the response is fast and is stable over a long period. Also. it is desirable that the sensitive film 2 is as thick as 400-100,000 Angstrom and the response speed becomes slow outside this range, thus causing drift to occur and stability to deteriorate.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent blocking of a liquid junction, by a method wherein, after an electrode lead-in wire covered with an insulating material is inserted into inner liquid through one end of an outer tube, the insulating material at the end part of the electrode lead-in wire in the inner liquid is unsheathed for exposure, the exposed part is surrounded with an ion selective hardening material. CONSTITUTION:A liquid junction 6 is formed in an outer tube 1 which is filled with conductive inner liquid 8, and after an electrode lead-in wire 4 covered with an insulating material is inserted into the inner liquid 8 through the one end of the outer tube 1, the insulating material at the one end of the electrode lead-in wire 4 in the inner liquid 8 is unsheathed for exposure. The exposed part is water tightly surrounded with an ion selective hardening material 13 in which gel by dibenzal sorbitol of ion exchange liquid or a derivative thereof is evenly dispersed and held in an epoxy resin hardening material consisting of 5-50 pts.wt. epoxy resin hardening material consisting 5-50 pts.wt. epoxy resin containing a hardener, 5-25 pts.wt. dibenzal sorbitol or a derivative thereof, and remaining pts.wt. ion exchange liquid.
