    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a transfer material generating no sticking phenomenon, having stable running properties and generating no blur or over-transfer, in a blaxially oriented film, by specifying the dispersing force component and polar force component of surface free energy and the center line average roughness and max. height of the opposite surface of the film to specific ranges. CONSTITUTION: A film for a thermal transfer film suitable for a thermal printer is composed of a biaxially oriented polyester film and the dispersing force component of the surface free energy on at least single surface of the film is 30-38 dyne/cm and the polar force component thereof is 4-13 dyne/cm and the center line average roughness of the opposite surface of the film is 0.02-0.50μm. The polar force component can be controlled on the basis of the amt. of the carboxyl terminal group of the film. The amt. of the carboxyl terminal group is set to 10-80eq/10 g, pref., 20-60eq/10 g. By providing a transfer ink layer on the single surface of the film, a transfer material for a variable dot printer is obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve the punching accuracy, printing, laminating, and curling characteristics by specifying the maximum value of total of the thermal contraction stresses in the longitudinal direction and the width direction in a specific temperature range of a polyester film, and the maximum value of inner surface direction thermal contraction stresses in a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION: The thickness of a biaxially stretched polyester film is in the range of 0.3-8.0μm, and the maximum value of the total of the thermal contraction stresses in the longitudinal direction and thermal contraction stresses in the width direction is in the range of 850g/mm -2500g/mm in a temperature range of 70-180 deg.C, besides, the maximum value of the inner surface direction, is made 150/mm or lower at 65 deg.C. Or, the characteristics of a thermosensible film, viz., the maximum roughness of the surface is preferred to be in the range of 2000-10000 pieces/mm in the number of surface projections of 0.4-4.0μm, 1μm Φ or more, thereby obtaining a film for the most suitable thermosensible stencil printing paper.
