Abstract:
This invention relates to a polyester composition containing particles of a cross-linked polymer having an ester bond in the principal chain. These particles have excellent affinity for polyester. Accordingly, in a film molded from polyester containing these particles, the particles hardly come off during a high-speed travelling of the film, and flaws ascribed to the particles also hardly occur on the film surface. Therefore, the deterioration of a film due to the occurrence of white powder thereon which is ascribed to the falling of the particles, which has posed problems when various kinds of particles were added, and due to the flaws on a magnetic surface can be prevented. Moreover, the contamination of the film manufacturing processes can be prevented, and the film thus obtained can be used suitably as, especially, magnetic tape.

PURPOSE: To produce a matte electrodeposition coating composition which forms a coating film having good matte effect and good appearance and in which c constituent acrylic copolymer resin is stable by using the specified acrylic copolymer resin and an amino resin as the principal components. CONSTITUTION: The production process comprises mixing a water-soluble or water-dispersible acrylic copolymer resin (a) obtained by copolymerizing radical- polymerizable monomers in the presence of a chain transfer agent having a hydrolyzable-silyl-containing chain of the formula (R is an organic group; R is a hydrolyzable group; R is H, alkyl or aryl; and n is 1-3) with an amino resin (b) being an alkyl-etherified methylol-melamine resin which has at least 3.5 ether groups on the average per melamine nucleus and in which 20-100 % of the ether groups are butoxy groups in a weight ratio (a)/(b) of 30/70 to 80/20 (in terms of the solid matter), neutralizing part of the carboxyl groups of the resin with a basic substance and optionally adding a surfactant, a wax, a colorant, etc. to the mixture.

PURPOSE:To obtain a composition which can give a solvent based coating material excellent in low-temperature curability) and the sharpness, etc., of coating film by mixing a vinyl copolymer having carboxyl groups and tert. amino groups with a specified sorbitol polyglycidyl ether. CONSTITUTION:A vinyl copolymer having carboxyl groups and tert. amino groups or groups derived from salts thereof is prepared by for example a process comprising copolymerizing a monomer having a carboxyl group or a carboxylic anhydride group (e.g. maleic anhydride) with a tert-amino-containing acrylic ester monomer (e.g. dimethylaminoethyl acrylate) and an acrylic monomer (e.g. methyl acrylate). This copolymer is mixed with a curing agent component comprising sorbitol polyglycidyl ether having at least two epoxy groups in the molecule to produce a composition for a solvent-based coating material.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve coating stability, flatting appearance, weatherability and gloss stability of flatting anion electrodeposition coating by a resin composition comprising an acrylic resin containing a carboxyl group, a specific organoalkoxysilane compound and an aluminum chelate compound. SOLUTION: In producing an acrylic resin, a polymerizable unsaturated carboxylic acid, a hydroxyl group-containing unsaturated monomer according to needs, an alkoxysilane group-containing unsaturated monomer or an epoxy group-containing unsaturated monomer are copolymerized to obtain an acrylic resin having a carboxyl group and a hydroxyl group or an epoxy group at a side chain or a termination of the copolymer. The acrylic resin has a hydroxyl value of 20-150 mgKOH/g, preferably 30-100 mgKOH/g and number average molecular weight of 2,000-70,000, preferably 4,000-50,000. A resin composition is obtained by compounding 100 pts.wt. of the acrylic resin, and 0.05-100 pts.wt. of an organoalkoxysilane compound having a glycidyl group and a hydrolyzable alkoxy silane group and 0.01-10 pts.wt. of an aluminum chelate compound.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electrodeposition coating composition excellent in stability as a coating material, gloss stability and finish by mixing water-soluble or dispersible acrylic resin having acetoacetoxy groups with a compound having at least two double bonds and an amino resin. SOLUTION: It is desirable that 40-90 wt.% (in terms of the solid matter) water-soluble or-dispersible acrylic resin having acetoacetoxy groups with 0.2-20 wt.% (in terms of the solid matter) compound having at least two double bonds and 10-60 wt.% (in terms of the solid matter) amino resin. It is more desirable that the amino resin is an alkyl-etherified methylolmelamine resin in which part or all of the alkyl ether groups are 2-6C alkyl ether groups. The water-soluble or-dispersible acrylic resin having acetoacetoxy groups is desirably one having an acid value of 20-150 mgKOH/g and a hydroxyl value of 30-150 mgKOH/g.
