    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve coating stability, flatting appearance, weatherability and gloss stability of flatting anion electrodeposition coating by a resin composition comprising an acrylic resin containing a carboxyl group, a specific organoalkoxysilane compound and an aluminum chelate compound. SOLUTION: In producing an acrylic resin, a polymerizable unsaturated carboxylic acid, a hydroxyl group-containing unsaturated monomer according to needs, an alkoxysilane group-containing unsaturated monomer or an epoxy group-containing unsaturated monomer are copolymerized to obtain an acrylic resin having a carboxyl group and a hydroxyl group or an epoxy group at a side chain or a termination of the copolymer. The acrylic resin has a hydroxyl value of 20-150 mgKOH/g, preferably 30-100 mgKOH/g and number average molecular weight of 2,000-70,000, preferably 4,000-50,000. A resin composition is obtained by compounding 100 pts.wt. of the acrylic resin, and 0.05-100 pts.wt. of an organoalkoxysilane compound having a glycidyl group and a hydrolyzable alkoxy silane group and 0.01-10 pts.wt. of an aluminum chelate compound.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition for coatings capable of forming coating films having excellent appearance and design and hardly forming scratches, struck cracks, etc., by compounding an acrylic resin, an amino resin and inorganic particles having a primary particle diameter of a prescribed value or less and forming secondary aggregates. SOLUTION: This resin composition for coatings comprises (A) an acrylic resin copolymerized with a silane compound in an amount corresponding to the 0.01-1.0 wt.% as Si element, (B) an amino resin which is a triazine ring- having compound containing 1.5-6.0 >=2C alkoxymethyl groups per triazine ring, and (C) one or more kinds of inorganic particles having a primary particle diameter of =5, and selected from inactive inorganic particles such as δ type alumina. The components A and B are compounded in a ratio of 90/10 to 30/70, and the component C is preferably compounded in an amount of 0.05-10 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the component A.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating resin composition having excellent coating film performance and storage stability and exhibiting low-temperature curability by compounding a specific resin composition with an alicyclic epoxy resin. SOLUTION: The objective resin composition contains (A) 100 pts.wt. of an acrylic resin having epoxy group and hydroxyl group on the side chain, (B) 0.05-100 pts.wt. of an organoalkoxysilane compound having glycidyl group and hydrolyzable alkoxysilane group (e.g. γ-glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane), (C) 0.01-10 pts.wt. of an aluminum chelate compound (e.g. aluminum ethylacetoacetate diisopropylate) and (D) 5-50 pts.wt. of a compound of formula [R1 is CH2OCO or CH2OCHO(CH2)nCOOCH2; (n) is 1-5; R2 is H or a lower alkyl] (e.g. 3,4-epoxycyclohexylmethyl-3',4'-epoxycyclohexanecarbonate). The component A is preferably a graft copolymer copolymerized with 0.5-10 wt.% of a polyalkyl (meth)acrylate macromonomer.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flat electrodeposition coating compsn. which is stable and gives a coating film excellent in gloss stability and finished appearance by compounding a specific water-soluble or water-dispersible acrylic resin with an amino resin. SOLUTION: This compsn. contains (A) a water-soluble or water-dispersible acrylic resin having silicon atoms bonded to alkoxy groups and (B) an amino resin which, when mixed with resin A in a wt. ratio to resin A of 40/60 and the mixture is dispersed in water and applied, gives a cured coating film having a transmittance at a wavelength of 400 nm of higher than 90%.
