The process for forming the pigment layer on the base plate is a process for applying a high molecular electrolytic salt solution containing pigment particles on the base plate and drying it, and the process for forming the phosphor layer is a process using a solution containing the material for forming the high molecular electrolyte and salt.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To enable a filter to be manufactured by applying pigment particles and a high molecular salt solution on a base plate and drying it, exposing it into the specified pattern, and developing it by using an alkaline aqueous solution. CONSTITUTION: A light absorbing layer 12 having the specified pattern is formed as a black matrix on a base plate made of glass, for example, on the inner surface of a panel 10 of a color cathode-ray tube. This layer 12 is made of graphite formed by the conventional method. The pigment dispersion liquids for forming blue, green and red filters is prepared. These dispersion liquids contain pigment particles and high molecular electrolytic salt solutions (containing photoresists). The panel 10 is held to the temperature of 30 deg.C, and a blue pigment dispersion liquid is applied thereto, and then a blue pigment layer 20 is obtained. Next, the pattern exposure is performed by using a shadow mask, and the development is performed by using an alkaline aqueous solution, so as to form a blue pigment layer 30B. Similarly, a green pigment layer 30G and a red pigment layer 30R are formed. A blue phosphor layer 40B, a green phosphor layer 40G, and a red phosphor layer 40R are formed by being faced to the pigment layers 30B to 30R.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a display having a fluorecent layer with a filter attached, thus improved in brightness and contrast. CONSTITUTION:A patterned light-absorption layer 2 is formed on the inside surface of the face plate 1. Then, a pigment dispersion composition is coated to form a blue pigment layer 4B and a fluorescent slurry is applied to provide the blue light-emitting fluorescent layer 5B. At this time, jince the pigment dispersion composition has resistance to overcoating, the composition does not cause migration into the fluorescent slurry. Thereafter, exposure through the mask and development are effected to give the blue pixel 6B with a blue filter attached. Since the pigment dispersion composition has an antinomic properties between the exposed parts and the unexposed parts due to the action of the dispersant, good patterning can be performed. These processes are repeated on the colors 6G and 6R, respectively, to prepare the fluorescent layer with filters attached.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a CRT having good charging preventive characteristic by making a glass film containing at least SiO2 or P2O5 as major components and including moisture absorptive metal salt of metal elements whose atomic number is below a specific value, and by putting this glass film on the outer surface of a front panel. CONSTITUTION:A front panel is equipped at its outer surface with a glass film containing at least SiO2 or P2O5 as major components and including moisture absorptive metal salt. Here the metal salt is of metal elements having an atomic number below 31. This metal salt is contained 0.001-10wt.% to the major components. This compound includes Si alcoholate or polysiloxane, and contains moisture absorptive metal salt 0.001-100wt.% of the weight of Si alcoholate or polysiloxane which are all converted into SiO2. The atomic model indicating this covering condition is given in the form of schematic diagram beside, where hollow and solid circles represent oxygen and silicon atoms, respectively, while greater solid circle a metal salt.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily obtain the uniform reflection preventive effect by gradually changing the thickness of a single-layer film so as to make it largest near the center section of a face plate and thin at the peripheral section. CONSTITUTION:A fluorescent layer 10 is formed on the inner side of a face plate 9, and the observer observes pictures displayed on this portion. In addition, a reflection preventing film 8 is formed on the outer surface of the face plate 9. This reflection preventing film is made of a material having a refraction factor lower than the refraction factor 1.52-1.54 of the face plate glass, and its thickness is gradually changed so as to be made thick at the center section of the face plate and thin at the peripheral section. The thick portion of the film at the center section may be adjusted to 0.22/nmum or less and the thin portion at the peripheral section to 0.04/nmum or more. Accordingly, the desired reflection preventive effect can be obtained at any point on the face plate 9.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a charge/reflection preventing film having sufficient sticking strength in a short time by applying a solution containing polyalkyl siloxane on a face plate end forming a SiO2 film on the surface of the face plate by condensation reaction. CONSTITUTION:A solution containing polyalkyl siloxane is applied to the face plate surface of a cathode-ray tube, and a SiO2 film is formed on the face plate surface by condensation reaction. That is, the solution contains some siloxane bonding from the start in the solution state before being applied to the face plate, i.e., before sintering or drying; thus the film has a strong sticking force even at the stage when the condensation reaction of silanol group is not progressed so much. Accordingly, a sufficient sticking force is obtained under loose calcination conditions (lower temperature or shorter time), and a sufficient charge preventive effect is obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To achieve good contrast through reduction of brightness at dark portion while to suppress degradation of color purity and to improve the emission life by forming a darkened portion composed of at least A1, Fe, Si onto at least one surface of metallic member in tube while making the content of Si near the surface of said darkened portion higher than 1.5 wt%. CONSTITUTION:An inner shield 6 is arranged while extending from the shadowmask structure along the inner face of funnel 2 to the electron gun structure 7. A darkened portion 11 is formed on the surface of metallic member in tube mainly composed of Fe such as the shadowmask structure 10 or the inner shield 6. In order to form the darkened portion 11, the surface of basic soft steel plate is washed with acid then cold rolled and fused aluminum galvanization is executed. The fused aluminum galvanization thickness will be 10-20mum. Then, in order to achieve predetermined thickness, it is cold rolled again then softened and annealed and pressed into specific shape thereafter thermally processed under reductive environment such as hydrogen environment or vacuum.
