Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color picture tube with a shadow mask having sufficient strength. SOLUTION: The shadow mask 7 consists of a shadow mask body 14 having an effective portion ranging over a region corresponding to all display screen and a band auxiliary mask 20 fixed near a Y-axis of the shadow mask body. The outer periphery of the rectangular effective portion 13 of the shadow mask body contains a skirt portion 17. The auxiliary mask has an effective portion as a region having a number of opening holes corresponding to the holes on the shadow mask body, similarly to the shadow mask body, and non-effective portions located at both ends of a short axis (the Y-axis). With the auxiliary mask arranged and fixed near the Y-axis of the shadow mask body, the shadow mask 7 is formed in a partially doubled structure for improved strength.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily form a thin envelope with a complex shape and make it lightweight by providing a difference absorbing means absorbing the difference of the thermal expansion quantity between a metal connecting member and a funnel or a glass panel on an intermediate member connecting the glass panel and the metal connecting member. CONSTITUTION:A panel 4 is connected via the second intermediate member A 5, and a metal connecting member (rear plate) 6 with a main face nearly parallel with the face plate 2 is connected via the first intermediate member B 7. The second intermediate member A 5 and the rear plate 6 are connected at a point S in advance, then the panel 4 and the second envelope A 5 are connected with frit glass 12. A projection 13 absorbing the difference of the thermal expansion quantity is provided only on the second intermediate member A 5, and the first intermediate member B 7 is a ring-shaped thin plate with no projection. A thin and lightweight color picture tube with excellent explosion- proof characteristic can be obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make a thin frame usable, by installing elastic supporters to be situated in the longitudinal central part of the frame anew in addition to the other elastic supporters being situated corner parts of the frame when the frame of a shadow mask to be built in a color picture tube is clamped on an inner wall of the picture tube. CONSTITUTION:A vacuum envelope is constituted of a substantially rectangular panel 10, a flare-formed funnel 12 and a neck 13, and a phosphor screen 14 consisting of a striped phosphor layer of red, green and blue is installed in an inner surface of the panel 10. And, an in-line type electron gun 16 emitting three electron beams 20 corresponding to each color is set up in the neck 13, and there is provided with a mask frame 17 which supports a shadow mask 15 having a lot of slit openings so that the shadow mask is set near the screen. In this constitution, a corner part of the frame 17 are clamped to an inner surface of the envelope with elastic supporters 18a and stud pins 19, but furthermore at the central parts of the longitudinal sides of the frame 17 is also clamped with a similar elastic supporter 18b, making it suitable for a large-sized picture tube.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain color images, with large size, high luminance and high resolution, easy to see, by scanning multiple small regions divided from a screen part separately and discriminating the index signal from the central part of each small region and the index signal from the neighborhood of the periphery of said small region. CONSTITUTION:An index system color picture tube 1 equips a faceplate 3 with a screen part 2, nicks 5-1-5-12 connected with the faceplate 3 through it funnel 4, small electron gun parts 6-1-6-12 fitted within the necks 5 and deflecting yoked 7-14-7-12 and besides the funnel 4 equips a light receiving window 8 and a photoelectric converter 9. The screen part 2 equips phosphor 10 with phosphor stripes R, G, B as one group and index stripes 13, and the pitch Pp of the stripes 13 in the neighborhood of the separate scanning end part in each divided small region is formed to be one half of the pitch PA in other parts of the screen part. By doing so, it is possible to discriminate the index signal from the central part of each small region and the index signal from the neighborhood of its boundary between the neighboring small regions and scan the divided small region separately.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make considerably large the electrode openig hole diameter of an electron gun and to make optionally small the space of an electron beam made incident on a deflection plane by performing small deflection in three steps before an electron beam is made incident on the center plane of deflection. CONSTITUTION:An electron beam 15 generated from a cathode 22 is controlled by the cathode 22 and the first and the second grids 23 and 24, and is accelerated and condensed by the third - the fifth grids 25-27, arriving at a screen plane, however, when it passes through the fourth grid 26, it receives an electrostatic deflection, the first small deflection, with a prescribed period at the fourth grid divided into two grids 26a and 26b. Therefore, three steps of deflection are applied and it means that three electron beams 15-17 are existed actually at the deflection plane of a main deflection. These actual three electron beams are deflected and scanned on the whole surface of the screen by a deflection yoke 7. At such a time, the space Sg between actual three electron beams at the center plane of deflection is decided according to the degree of the small deflection performed by the fourth grid 26, being made smaller optionally.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce an easily designed color picture tube device which can produce color images of high resolution, high convergence and high color purity over the entire surface of the screen by varying the degree of the first small deflection according to defletional scanning produced by the main deflecting part. CONSTITUTION:An electron beam 15 receives a first small deflection of two stages in the fourth grids 26a and 26b to produce electron beams 15-16 on the main deflection surface. The thus produced electron beams 15-17 are deflected and scanned over the entire surface of the screen by means of a deflection york 7. It is possible to produce a raster with good convergence quality by deflecting and scanning three electron beams 15-17 which are rightly converged and located at small distance. However, it is impossible to practically use the electron beams 15-17 because on the screen they are considerably apart from each other thereby resulting in a convergence shift. Therefore, convergence correction is performed by synchronizing the frequency of the first small deflection with the frequency of one horizontal deflection scanning line, making an image signal for each color to have a time difference and using a correcting coil 14 to produce a vertical second small deflection.

The supporting section 33 is movable around the board section 30 where the angle (a) making against the tube axis 23 and the angle (b) between the beam 24 and the tube axis 23 are set such that 90 deg.>a>90 deg. -beta.

On the surface of metal-film layers 6 and 6a, except an image-displayed region a, aqueous solution of graphite 8, in which amorphous silica of low electron scattering-featured material is added to form a monochrome cathode-ray tube. Hence, with the influence of scattering reflection electrons being lessened, an image with good contrast can be obtained even in case of a reverse display system.

After that, the electrodes 51, 52...57 are stacked over the above assembling tool, and are positioned and fixed around an insulating supporting bar according to the concave parts 21, 22, 23 and 24. As a result, the accuracy of the assembly of an electron gun can be increased.
