Abstract: PURPOSE:To effectively use light in the ultraviolet ray and visible ray regions for improving thermal efficiency by providing a tubular infrared ray lamp to be used as a thermal source with a coating which reflects visible rays and transmits infrared rays on the outer surface of a bulb housing a filament. CONSTITUTION:The outer surface of a bulb 11 is provided with a coating 17 which reflects ultraviolet and visible rays while transmitting infrared rays. For this coating 17, is used an interference filter wherein, for instance, a metal oxide layer 18a having a high-refraction factor and a metal oxide layer 18b having a low refraction factor are alternately formed in multilayers. That is, a lamp 10 reflects the rays in ultraviolet and visible ray regions radiated from a filament 12 inside the lamp while only transmitting near infrared rays, by forming a visible ray reflecting/infrared ray transmitting coating 17 on the outside surface of the bulb 11. Further, the rays in the ultraviolet and visible ray regions returned to the inside of the bulb 11 are used for heating the fila ment 12. Thereby, an amount of the infrared rays emitted from the lamp is increased for improving the rate of the thermal emission amount to a lamp input, namely, thermal efficiency.

CONSTITUTION:In a low pressure mercury vapor discharge lamp, in which a fluorescent body layer 5 is formed on the inner surface of a bulb 1 and mercury and rare gas is filled in the bulb 1, particles of metal oxide at 0.01-3.0weight% is adhered to the surface of the particles of the fluorescent body forming the fluorescent body layer to charge the fluorescent body with electric load at 0 microcoulomb or less per 1g of the fluorescent body at the time of contact of the fluorescent body to the reduced iron powder having a particle diameter at 74-44mum. Since charge tendency is controlled to the negative direction, drop voltage can be reduced.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the starting voltage while suppressing the stray light by providing an ionizing electrode near the shrunk end of a discharge path. CONSTITUTION:A discharge path limiter 5 inserted between an anode 9a and a cethode 2 and shrinking one end on the cathode side of a discharge path arranged in response to the number of anodes, a fluorescent film 8 coated on the surface facing the discharge path of the discharge path limiter 5 or a bulb 1, and an ionizing electrode 13 arranged near the shrunk end of the discharge path 7a are provided. The ionizing electrode 13 is inserted between the cathode 2 and the anode 9a and also arranged near the shrunk end of the discharge path provided to prevent the stray light, thus an ionization state occurs between the cathode 2 and the anode 9a by the excitation of the ionizing electrode 13, the impedance near the shrunk end of the discharge path 7a is reduced, and the starting voltage between the cathode 2 and the anode 9a can be reduced while the stray light is prevented.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent the temperature rise of a liquid crystal(LC) display element by shielding between a fluorescent lamp and the LC display element by an infrared-ray shielding filter. CONSTITUTION: The LC display device is provided with the infrared-ray shielding filter 5 for shielding between the fluorescent lamp 4 and the LC display element 1. Although the element 1 is thermally weak, and when the temperature of an LC substance 12 is increased, its molecular array is disturbed and display is instabilized as its defects, about 30% of infrared rays radiated from the lamp 34 is interrupted by the filter 5 and the arrival to the infrared rays at the element 1 is prevented. Consequently the temperature rise of the element 11 is suppressed and the instability or disturbance of the display is suppressed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase emitted energy covering a wide range while enabling all food-stuff to be efficiently heated by forming a supporting plate of a crystallized glass for transmitting a near infrared ray region while emitting light in a far infrared ray region. CONSTITUTION:A supporting plate is composed of a crystallized glass such as, for instance, beta sponging system crystal glass for transmitting light in a near infrared ray region while radiating light in a far infrared ray region. That is, when the infrared rays heading for the supporting plate 8 from an infrared ray lamp 10 permeates the supporting plate 8, a larger amount of the near infrared rays than before can be emitted to a cooking utensil 20 because this supporting plate 8 is excellent in transmissivity of light in the infrared ray region. And this supporting plate 8 is heated by residual heat and surrounding heat for radiating light in the far infrared ray region by itself to emit the far infrared rays. Thereby, emission energy is increased covering a wide range from the near infrared ray region to the far infrared ray region thus being able to efficiently heat food-stuff in a wide range from the food-stuff desirably heated with infrared rays to the food-stuff desirably heated with far infrared rays.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To realize secure coloring control by filling a thread-form electric insulating filler at the position avoiding the main discharge route of the main discharge carried out between a cathode and an anode. CONSTITUTION:In order to insulate in recesses 20a and 20b formed in a dischargeable space electrically, quartz glass woods 23 and 23 which are a thread- form electric insulating filler are compressed and filled in the recesses 20a and 20b of a discharge route regulator 15, and then, the discharge route regulator 15 is inserted to a bulb 11. As a result, the length of the discharge routes in the discharge spaces 20a and 20b is made longer and the conductance is reduced. Consequently, a short-circuited discharge in the discharge spaces is prevented, and only the plain discharge is carried out in the main discharge route between an anode and a cathode 12. Since the main discharge between the plural anodes and cathodes can be carried out at a time, plural colored lights can be radiated simultaneously thereby, and the coloring control can be made securely.
