Abstract: A process for selective removal of a nickel alloy brazing composition from a nickel-base alloy component includes the steps of providing a brazed assembly including nickel-base alloy components joined by nickel alloy brazing composition; immersing the assembly in an electrolyte; and applying a potential across the electrolyte at a magnitude wherein the nickel-base alloy components are electrochemically passive and the nickel alloy brazing composition dissolves whereby the brazing composition is removed from the components.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a compound, non-chromium conversion coating for a part formed from an aluminum alloy. The coating is formed by providing a first solution containing an anodic inhibitor species, providing a second solution containing a cathodic corrosion inhibitor species, and immersing the part to be coated in a first one of the first and second solutions and thereafter in a second one of the first and second solutions. Suitable anodic inhibitor species include tungstates, permanganates, vanadates, molybdates, and mixtures thereof. Suitable cathodic corrosion inhibitors include cobalt, cerium, other lanthanide elements, and mixtures thereof. In one embodiment, the conversion coating is formed using a cerium containing solution and a tungstate containing solution.

System includes cleaning reservoir containing etching solution in the form of electrolytic bath for removal of coating from, at least, one article immersed in the etching solution while maintaining adjustable absolute electric potential on, at least, one article relative to the reference electrode, which is also immersed in the etching solution, washing reservoir for washing of article (articles) after removal of article (articles) from the cleaning reservoir, and distillation unit for reception of electrolyte, containing dissolved metals, from the cleaning reservoir for cleaning of electrolyte accepted from the cleaning reservoir, and for return of the purified electrolyte into the cleaning reservoir. The method of using the system for removal of coating from the article is described too.
