Abstract: A non-resilient belt tensioning mechanism monitors and maintains tension in a photoreceptor belt. The belt tensioning mechanism causes one of at least a pair of rollers, around which a photoreceptor belt is entrained, to exert pressure against the photoreceptor belt to apply and maintain substantially constant tension in t he belt.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic printing machine recording an electrostatic latent image on an oblong photoconductive belt provided with a long shaft and a short shaft. SOLUTION: In this electrophotographic printing machine, the oblong photoconductive belt 10 provided with a long shaft and a short shaft, N pieces of image recording stations 20, 22, 24 installed in the vicinity of the outer surface of the photoconductive belt 10 on one side of the long shaft of the photoconductive belt 10 to record the electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor belt 10 and N-1 pieces of image recording stations 16, 18 installed in the vicinity of the outer surface of the photoconductive belt 10, on the opposite side of the long shaft are provided.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoreceiving belt tension system by which the tension of a belt being in a belt steering operation is reduced and also excellent color positioning is attained. SOLUTION: A non-elastic tension mechanism setting and controlling a tension roll system with a photoreceiving body belt module acts on at least one of a pair of rollers about the periphery of which the photoreceiving body belt is entrained thereby keeping practically uniform tension even for the various total length of the belt.
