Abstract:
An apparatus for multi-bead welding of two rotating workpieces comprises a flat filler wire holder which can be introduced into the gap between the workpieces and which is periodically pivoted forth and back at substantially constant angular velocity between the two sides of the gap. The pivoting is effected by a motor which is started when a cam rotating in synchronism with the workpieces actuates a stationary signal generator. The cam is provided on a cam disc which is driven through a friction coupling and which, on each revolution, is arrested by a pawl during a period determined by an adjustable timer. The timer is started when the cam actuates a stationary signal generator mounted shortly in advance of the pawl, and after the expiry of the period of the timer the pawl is retracted so that the rotation of the cam disc can continue. The pawl is again advanced to operative position when the cam actuates the first mentioned signal generator.
Abstract:
Method of laser hardening of a surface area of a workpiece, such as a surface of a journal of a crankshaft, comprising: generating a relative movement between the surface of the workpiece and a laser source to allow a laser spot to subsequently be projected onto different portions of said surface area, and during said relative movement, repetitively scanning the laser beam (2) so as to produce a two-dimensional equivalent effective laser spot (5) on said surface area. The scanning pattern can comprises at least three substantially parallel lines which the laser spot follow in a certain order. When the workpiece comprises several journals having different widths, two laser sources (1, 1A) may be used to harden the surface area of the wider journals.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a method of manufacturing a camshaft. Particularly, the present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a camshaft which includes a single sintering operation and a brazing operation, thus reducing the time for manufacturing.
Abstract:
A liquid phase diffusion welding method for a metallic part capable of increasing the quality and productivity of a joint part by achieving the shortage of welding time, the uniformization of welding structure, and increases in the tensile strength and fatigue strength of a joint to increase the quality and reliability thereof. An amorphous alloy foil for liquid phase diffused welding is disposed on the fusion face of a metal material. As a primary welding, the amorphous alloy foil and the metal material are fused and press-welded to each other by a resistance welding to form the joint part. As a second welding, the joint part is re-heated to the melting point of the amorphous alloy foil or higher and then the temperature is maintained until the solidification of the joint part is completed.
Abstract:
The invention refers to manufacturing engineering, in particular to shipbuilding and ship repair. Said invention applies to internal combustion engines, such as marine diesel engines. The invention relates to an apparatus in above described fields for repair and renovation of the crankshaft journal (bearing) surfaces, by means of laser build-up (cladding). Invented apparatus and method is designed to perform journals build-up (cladding) operations directly in the engine housing, without removing the crank-shaft from the engine.
