Abstract:
This invention is directed to a liquid metal and oil teating composition and to the process of preparing the composition. In the process there are first mixed together a vegetable oil such as cashew oil, an oleate ester such as magnesium oleate, and Ingredient A which is material selected from the group consisting of powdered ferric chloride, lead oxide, ferric oxide, iron carbide, chromium carbide and tungsten carbide and mixtures thereof dispersed in an aqueous solution of acid selected from the group consisting of hydrochloric acid, perchloric acid and sulfuric acid. The acid solution is concentrated, preferably containing about 40 volume % acid. The mixture is heated and stirred and then distilled. The residue is then heated to about 100.degree.-150.degree. F. while adding to it, with stirring, an antioxidant, a polar hydrocarbon, a carbonyl, a carboxyl amide, a viscosity improver, at least one of a tackifier and a sulfonate, and a petroleum oil until a homogeneous liquid is obtained.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a magnetic viscous fluid and a mechanical device with both improved drag force during excitation and improved rubber-resistant properties. The magnetic viscous fluid comprises a magnetic particle and base oil, wherein the base oil comprises ester base oil and non-polar base oil, and a non-polarity index of the base oil is in the range of 10 to 45.
Abstract:
A lubricant additive formulation for addition to conventional motor oil to improve the lubricating properties of the engine oil and enhance the performance of the engine. The engine treatment oil additive comprises a synergistic blend of an oil soluble molybdenum additive, polyalphaolefin, ester such as a polyolester or diester, polytetrafluoroethylene, dispersant inhibitor containing zinc dithiophosphate, mineral oil base stock, viscosity index improvers, and borate ester used in combination with a conventional crankcase lubricant at about a 20 to about a 25% volume/percent. The improved performance of the engine additive in comparison with a conventional crankcase lubricants is attributable to the effect of optimizing the design parameters for each of the individual chemical constituents and combining the chemical constituents according to the present invention to obtain surprisingly good results including improved wear, oxidation resistance, viscosity stability, engine cleanliness, fuel economy, cold starting, and inhibition of acid formation.
Abstract:
According to the invention, combining some or all of the following components: oil soluble Molybdenum additive (Molyvan 855--Vanderbilt Chemical); ("Synthetic") polyalphaolefin (PAO) 4 cSt; PAO 6 cSt and/or synthetic diester (e.g., Chemaloy M-22A); PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene colloidal dispersed product--Acheson Chemical) Dispersant Inhibitor (DI) package containing zinc dithiophosphate (ZDP), etc., (Chemaloy D-036); Mineral Oil Base Stock; Viscosity Index Improver (VI) (Shellvis 90-SBR); into a package for addition to conventional motor oil results in improved wear, oxidation resistance, viscosity stability, engine cleanliness, fuel economy, cold starting, and inhibited acid formation. It has been discovered that when added to the crankcase of an internal combustion, e.g., spark ignition (SI) engine at most preferably approximately 20-25 vol. % with the conventional crankcase lubricant, this provides synergistic performance improvement of the oil and engine. The formulation is compatible with engine warranty requirements, i.e.,service classification API SH.
Abstract:
A swash plate type compressor is arranged with a plurality of semispherical shoes 4 and a disc shaped swash plate 2. A resin coating 12 is formed on a surface 2A and a rear surface 2B (sliding surface) of the swash plate 2 which slides with the shoe 4. The resin coating 12 includes a structure whereby multiple hexagonal cylinder bodies 12B are fabricated on a surface of a substrate 11 and an end surface 12C of each cylinder body 12B forms a sliding surface which slides with the shoe 4. In addition, a honeycomb shaped groove 12A is formed at an adjacent position of each cylinder body 12B forming a storage part of a lubricant O and a container part for foreign objects 15. The swash plate 2 can be provided with excellent wear resistance, seizure resistance and lubrication retention.
Abstract:

Abstract:
A lubricant additive formulation for increasing the performance of conventional engine lubricants for use as an engine treatment oil additive formulated for addition to conventional motor oil to improve the lubricating properties of the engine oil and enhance the performance of the engine. A preferred embodiment of the engine treatment oil additive comprises a blend of chemical constituents including a base stock selected from a synthetic base stock, a mineral oil base stock, and a severly hydrocracked base stock or combinations thereof, an oil soluble molybdenum additive, dispersant inhibitor, and selected additives such as polytetrafluoroethylene, viscosity index improvers, and extreme pressure wear agent used in combination with a conventional crankcase lubricant at about a 20 to about a 25% volume/percent or as a complete motor oil. Additional components may be added to the engine treatment oil additive formulation to enhance specific properties for special applications.
