Abstract:
A braided structure that includes a core and a sheath is provided. The core includes a yarn formed at least in part from an aromatic polymer (e.g., an aromatic polyester/liquid crystalline polymer or an aramid polymer), and the sheath, which includes a plurality of ultra high molecular weight polyolefin yarns, is braided around the core. The sheath has an overall diameter ranging from about 60 micrometers to about 650 micrometers. Despite its small diameter, the braided structure can be creep resistant and abrasion resistant while at the same time exhibiting low elongation, a high load at break, and high stiffness. The braided structure can be used in medical applications such as sutures, load bearing orthopedic applications, artificial tendons/ligaments, fixation devices, actuation cables, components for tissue repair, etc.
Abstract:
Provided is a rope that can be used even by those not familiar with ropework and whose knots will not loosen or come apart. A rope with holes has at least three bonded parts obtained by bonding two cords together at fixed intervals, as well as two openings formed between adjacent bonded parts. The rope with holes can be easily tied with another rope by guiding the other rope through its openings and the knots will not loosen or come apart.
Abstract:
An elongation cord adapted for the reinforcement of elastomer structures has a polymer core and three to nine strands twisted around the core with a cord twisting step in a cord twisting direction. At least one of the strands a first group of filaments and a second group of filaments. The first group of filaments is twisted with a first twisting step in a first twisting direction and the second group of filaments is twisted with a twisting step in a second twisting direction. The first twisting step is different from the second twisting step or the first twisting direction is different from the second twisting direction, or both. The first twisting direction is equal to the cord twisting direction and the first twisting step is equal to the cord twisting step.

An elongation cord (10) adapted for the reinforcement of elastomer structures has a polymer core (12) and three to nine strands (14) twisted around the core with a cord twisting step in a cord twisting direction. At least one of the strands (14) has a first group (16) of filaments (17, 18) and a second group (20) of filaments (21, 22). The first group (16) of filaments (17, 18) is twisted with a first twisting step in a first twisting direction and the second group (20) of filaments (21, 22) is twisted with a second twisting step in a second twisting direction. The first twisting step is different from the second twisting step or the first twisting direction is different from the second twisting direction, or both. The first twisting direction is equal to the cord twisting direction and the first twisting step is equal to the cord twisting step.

Abstract:
A rope system for system level recoil control and method for providing a rope system for system level recoil control are provided. The rope system includes a first rope component and a second component, and the second rope component is connected in series to the first rope component. The first rope component includes a first rope subcomponent and a second rope subcomponent, the first rope subcomponent has predetermined failure strength and is designed and configured to be a controlled failure point for the system, and the second rope subcomponent has a predetermined elongation capability. Upon failure of the first rope subcomponent, the second rope subcomponent is configured to elongate to absorb a predetermined amount of a predetermined operational strain energy of the rope system and to stretch over a predetermined distance and/or predetermined period of time before the second rope subcomponent fails.
Abstract:
The invention provides a steel cord with a construction of n×1, n is the number of the steel filaments of the steel cord, the steel cord has an elongation at 2.5N-50N of less than 1.2% and a twist pitch of greater than 16 mm, each of the steel filaments has a form of helical wave with a wave length L expressed in mm and a wave height H expressed in mm when being unravelled from said steel cord, L is greater than 16 mm, each of the steel filaments has a space volume Vs satisfying that, Vs=L×H2×π/4, and Vs>20 mm3. The invention steel cord is beneficial for the stress distribution.
Abstract:
A reinforcement cable is formed of an assembly of strands. Each strand is formed of two wires wound around each other in the same direction, with a constant pitch whose length is less than 300 mm. The two wires have linear contact with each other in the form of a helix. These helices have the same direction and the same constant pitch length. The assembly is formed of two strands of the same length of pitch and wound in opposite directions and/or it is formed of two to four strands such that the assembly has the same length of pitch and wound in the same direction as one strand and, with respect to another strand, a different length of pitch and/or wound in an opposite direction.
