Abstract:
A hybrid satellite/terrestrial wireless network having a plurality of terrestrial cells and satellite coverage areas is disclosed. A multiplex transmitted in a terrestrial cell may include signaling information for neighboring terrestrial cells and neighboring satellite coverage areas. The signaling information may include indicators identifying different profiles for the hybrid satellite/terrestrial network, and include other information enabling handover from the terrestrial cell multiplex to one of the neighboring terrestrial or satellite multiplexes.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a consumer or professional device, a so called 'Multi-Media Player (CDMM)', its application and a method for the distribution of Multi-Media documents. The invention is characterized in that said multi-media documents in form of digital signals are fed into a multiplexer/coder (MUXCC) by several sub-channels (SC1, SC2,...SCn), said sub-channels are multiplexed in time, a control signal is added and this signal is modulated into a transmission signal (TR) on the broadcasting studio side and at the receiving side the transmission signal (TR) is treated up to the output of a tuner like a normal signal for television, said signal is demodulated, digitized, demultiplexed and the control information of the control signal is extracted from the bit stream so that by monitoring said control information signal provided with the transmission a transmission channel decoder (TCD) causes a multi-media player (CDMM) to record a distributed document according to the programming of the user or said signal is directly stored by a multi-media player (CDMM) and said stored signal is demodulated, digitized, demultiplexed and the control information of the control signal is extracted from the bit stream so that by monitoring said control information signal provided with the transmission a transmission channel decoder (TCD) causes a reproduction device for reproducing a distributed document according to the programming of the user.
Abstract:
Exemplary embodiments are related to a dual-mode controller. A device may include a controller configured to convey a signal to a low-noise block (LNB) via a transmission line and circuitry configured to sense at least one parameter of the transmission line. The device may further include logic coupled to the circuitry and configured to determine whether the transmission line is available for transmission based on the at least one sensed parameter.

Abstract:
A method and a system for monitoring the quality of digital audio broadcasting contents are provided to detect sound passing a transmission section in an original digital sound received from a PP and compare the detected sound with the original digital sound to measure audio quality, thereby improving contents quality. Digital audio is provided from a satellite terminal through a PP(Program Provider)(110), a preprocessor(120), an encoder(130), an MUX(Multiplexer)(140), a modulator(150), and a satellite antenna(160). An audio card unit(210) receives digital audio signals. A waveform comparing engine unit(220) compares an original PP sound extracted from the card 1 of the audio card unit with the digital audio signals extracted in each section in amplitude, length, the size of waveform, to measure an MOS value. A monitoring engine unit(230) monitors the state of a sound such as mute/silent/noise. A management engine unit performs audio capturing and data logging for a section having an error and performs statistic management and failure management based on managed data. An alarm management unit provides quality information to a manager and a contents provider.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A broadcasting service providing method of a broadcasting signal transceiving apparatus is provided to transmit integrated EPG information including physical channel information though an additionally secured improved layer. CONSTITUTION: A broadcasting signal receiving apparatus receives integrated EPG(Electronic Program Guide) information with the selection of an integrated EPG channel(S1110). The broadcasting signal receiving apparatus extracts the physical channel information of each frequency block within a corresponding broadcasting frequency with the analysis of the integrated EPG information(S1120,S1130). If a user selects a special channel, the broadcasting signal receiving apparatus moves to a channel within a corresponding frequency block with the extracted physical channel information(S1140,S1150). The broadcasting signal receiving apparatus extracts a broadcasting service from a corresponding channel(S1160).
