Abstract:
An FM broadcasting signal carrying multiplex character data transmitted from a radio broadcasting station is automatically preset in an FM receiving apparatus. An FM broadcasting signal is received, and a frequency information of the received FM broadcasting signal is temporarily memorized in a memory. It is judged whether a PLL lock signal is produced by a clock signal reproducing circuit during a demodulation process of the FM broadcasting signal whose frequency information is memorized in the memory. When it is determined that the PLL lock signal is produced by the clock signal reproducing circuit, it is determined that the FM broadcasting signal carries multiplex character data, and the frequency information of said FM broadcasting signal is preset to the FM receiving apparatus.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for transmitting an information signal generate a plurality of block signals on the basis of the information signal, generate a plurality of parity block signals on the basis of the plural data block signals, generate a frame signal containing the plural data block signals and the parity block signals, and send out the frame signal. Each of the data block signals includes a first block synchronizing signal indicating the start of the data block signal, a data signal containing the information signal and a first parity signal derived by encoding the data signal. Each of the parity block signals incudes a second block synchronizing signal indicating the start of the parity block signal, a second parity signal and a third parity signal. Bit signals located at same bit positions in the respective second parity signals are derived by encoding bit signals located at the same positions in the respective data signals. Bit signals located at same bit positions in the respective third parity signals are derived by encoding the bit signals located at the same bit positions in the respective first parity signals or alternatively the third parity signal in each parity block signal is derived by encoding the second parity signal in each parity block signal.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for controlling an electric appliance using a broadcast wave are disclosed. Various electric appliances widely used in each household are so configured as to be equipped with a broadcast receiving module and receive a product-related additional data packet through the broadcast wave such as an FM multiplex broadcasting. The electric appliance controls its own operation according to information in the received additional data packet. Accordingly, the present invention enables the electric appliances to be remotely controlled by receiving the product control information packet transmitted through the broadcast wave. The present invention enables a natural disaster to be warned by receiving a disaster warning data packet transmitted through the broadcast wave. The present invention further enables guidance information on the electric appliance to be displayed by receiving the product guidance information packet transmitted through the broadcast wave.
Abstract:
A CPU enables an FM tuner, a tuning controller and an FM multiplex decoder, after which the CPU is disabled. The FM tuner, tuning controller and FM multiplex decoder receives frame data including emergency information transmitted from a broadcasting station. When a packet coincidence circuit determines that the received block is a specific block which may include emergency information, the FM multiplex decoder causes an emergency information determining circuit to determine if the associated packet contains emergency information. If this packet contains emergency information, the emergency information determining circuit sends an interrupt signal to the CPU to enable the CPU. The CPU then reproduces the emergency information in the received data and displays it on a display section.

Abstract:
In a receiver in a data broadcasting system, a receiver in a second data broadcasting system according to the present invention is characterized by comprising judging device for judging whether or not program data constituting at least one of received programs has been updated, and switching device for switching, when it is judged by the judging device that the program data has been updated, a program to be displayed into the program whose program data updating has been performed.
Abstract:
Received data is applied in units of blocks to an error correcting unit and a data holding unit. If the error correcting unit normally performs error correction, the output from the error correcting unit is stored in a frame buffer. If the error correcting unit does not normally perform error correction, the data in the data holding unit is stored in the frame buffer. In this manner the first error correction processing is performed. Bit data is sequentially read out in units of bits from each block stored in the frame buffer, subjected to the second error correction processing, and returned to the frame buffer. The third error correction processing is further performed for the data sequentially output in units of blocks from the frame buffer.
Abstract:
An SI judging circuit in a service detecting section detects a service identification code included in a block included in received superimposed FM data. When the block represents an unnecessary service, the SI judging circuit generates a predetermined service detecting signal, which is supplied to a station selecting microcomputer. A user operates a station selecting key to request the change of the broadcasting station. When the change is requested, and also the service detecting signal indicating that the service included in the received block is not needed is supplied to the station selecting microcomputer by the SI judging circuit, a control section of the station selecting microcomputer outputs station data corresponding to the requested station to a PLL synthesizer, and then the frequency signal (tuning frequency) is changed at a front end. This enables data received during a period for receiving blocks for unnecessary services to be NG, and can prevent data of blocks including necessary services from being NG.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and to a device for presenting information, preferably in a moving vehicle. According to said method and device, master information is stored on a computer and is subsequently presented on at least one presentation device. The technical problem to be solved is to provide an inexpensive system with which information can be presented in high quality and can be updated any time. To this end, supplementary information is transmitted to the computer using a transmitter and a receiver linked with said computer. The information is evaluated by the computer and the information presented by the at least one presentation device is modified in accordance with the supplementary information. The supplementary information is transmitted via a subcarrier frequency of an analog radio or television signal.
Abstract:
A receiver for data broadcasting system which is provided with a discriminating means which discriminates whether or not the program data of at least one or received programs are updated and a notifying means which notifies a user that the program data are updated when the discriminating means discriminates that the data are updated. For example, such a notifying means that displays the information indicating that the content of the program, the program data of which are updated, is updated on a display is used as the notifying means.
