Abstract:
PURPOSE: An encoder using vestigial sideband method for digital television receiver is provided to determine an input bit as an eraser according to the status of channel of the television receiver to improve decoding capability. CONSTITUTION: An encoder using vestigial sideband method for digital television receiver includes an equalizer(204'), a channel status detector(300), and a viterbi decoder(206'). The digital television receiver receives a broadcasting signal of predetermined channel, decodes, and corrects an error. The digital television receiver decodes a video data and an audio data by way of a source decoding. The equalizer detects a synchronous error and compensates for the channel characteristics. The channel status detector compares the synchronous error from the equalizer and determines the channel status. The viterbi decoder processes the data from the equalizer by using an eraser or a viterbi algorithm.

PURPOSE: An SOVA(Soft Output Viterbi Algorithm) channel equalization method and a receiver using the same are provided to facilitate VLSI implementation and DSP programming which are used in a system by reducing the complexity of SOVA. CONSTITUTION: An SOVA(Soft Output Viterbi Algorithm) channel equalization method is composed of computing the symbol soft output value by using the symbol in which "n" th symbol is not maximum likelihood sequence symbol of the maximum likelihood sequence symbol and the next likelihood sequence symbol, and computing the bit soft output value by using the symbol soft output value. The "n" is a natural number.

An apparatus and a method for transmitting an ultra-wideband signal are provided to improve a bit error rate and to remove a line spectrum by generating a transmitting signal with interleaving and a polar randomized sequence. A channel encoder(110) uses a coding method having a linearly independent output formula. The channel encoder codes a source data, and generates a first signal. An interleaver(120) generates a second signal by interleaving the first signal. A modulator(130) generates a third signal by modulating the second signal according to a pulse position modulation method. A randomizer(140) generates a transmitting signal by using a predetermined polar randomized sequence.

본 발명은 MLSE 신호를 이용한 잡음 제거기를 포함한 디지털 방송 수신 시스템에 관한 것으로 본 발명에 따르면, 수신된 RF 신호를 캐리어/타이밍 복원 등을 통하여 기저 대역 신호로 복조하는 복조기와, 상기 수신된 신호가 송신기에서 수신기까지 도달하는 동안에 발생하는 각종 페이딩을 보상하는 주파수 영역 등화기와, 상기 등화 과정에서 증폭된 잡음을 제거하는 잡음 제거기와, 상기 잡음 제거기의 출력을 입력받아 신뢰성 높은 결정 신호인 MLSE를 생성하고, 상기 MLSE 신호를 상기 잡음 제거기로 궤환(feedback)시켜 주는 MLSE부를 포함하여 구성되어, 매우 큰 페이딩이 있는 채널을 통과한 신호에 대해서도 상기 MLSE 신호를 이용하여 정확한 기준 잡음 신호를 생성함으로써, 종래 잡음 제거기에 비해 성능이 개선된 잡음 제거기를 갖는 디지털 방송 수신 시 스템을 제작하는 효과가 있다.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A receiving device of a digital TV is provided to use a four-level slicer in a channel equalizing process when reliability of a predicted value is high, after predicting a register value of a trellis coder in a transmitting side, and to use an eight-level slicer when the reliability of the predicted value is low, so as to minimize decision errors of slicers to prevent a deterioration of a signal to noise ratio(SNR), which is caused by a noise amplification of a feedback filter in a channel equalizer, even in a channel having a severe ghost, to improve the capacity of the channel equalizer. CONSTITUTION: A feed forward filter(74-1) attenuates the influence of a near ghost. A feedback filter(74-7) attenuates the influence of a remote ghost. An adder(74-2) adds an output of the feed forward filter(74-1) to an output of the feedback filter(74-7). The first to the third slicer(74-3-74-5) decide the added output of the adder(74-2) with a nearest signal level. A multiplexer(MUX)(74-6) selects one of outputs of the first to the third slicer(74-3-74-5) according to the output of a slicer predictor(75), and feeds back the selected output to the feedback filter(74-7).

PURPOSE: A transmitter apparatus of a digital television is provided to transmit data in a 4VSB transmission fashion not trellis-coded in a channel where an affect of a distant ghost is severe. CONSTITUTION: In the transmitter apparatus of a digital television which trellis-codes digital data to transmit the digital data in a 8 vestigial side band (VSB) modulation fashion, a four vestigial side band (VSB) coder (75) is provided. In a channel where an affect of a distant ghost is severe, the digital data is transferred in a four vestigial side band modulation fashion not trellis-coded. The four VSB coder (75) comprises a pre-coder for pre-coding one bit of two input symbol bits; and a mapper for receiving a bit not being pre-coded among the two input symbol bits and the pre-coded bit in the pre-coder to map the received bits with a four-level symbol.
